Pogba still wants out

VC Robb has edited his initial article, which was pretty much cheerleading the thought of selling Pogba (with no chance of replacing him) and said that he'd respect the club more so, if they did it. Like now. In this window. Where we can't replace him. I think he was being serious. Possibly

I wouldn’t want us to sell him now for £250m, never mind £100m.

What would we do with the money? Absolutely nothing until Christmas at which point we might well be languishing mid-table, and then we’d be absolutely raaaaped trying to invest in an inferior replacement before the Glazers quietly squirreled the rest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So if (and that what I’m saying, if) he hands in a transfer request you’d want him to stay?

Are we really that desperate for him to stay at the club we’d keep an unhappy player?

I get the feeling that if Pogba did come out in the next couple of weeks and say he wanted to leave this summer and demanded to go the opinions of him would change as opposed to what we’re seeing on this article and people would start to make fantasy line ups without him and start making out that things weren’t as bad as it seemed and would be more open to the idea

I know how all your minds work. 😎

My bad Robb 👍. It was one of your comments I was thinking of. The article itself is fine imo (hence me thinking you'd edited it) 😂. Apologies

I know Merry. I have read his idiocy.

No United fan would respect the club if they sold Pogba now.

I was on about how he always says someone is missing the point when someone disagrees with him. This is usually after some major goalpost shifting as well.

I doubt it. If there’s one subject that this board is in pretty much agreement with it’s the lack of quality in the midfield. Selling Pogba isn’t going to make people revise that. Even Pogba’s biggest detractors wanted him replaced with a top midfielder, not Andreas Periera.

Its the timing. When UTD said they were caught out with the early window, was the Pogba situ, what they were on about?
Well, we will see in the next 2 weeks.
I seriously cant believe UTD would let him go now.
It should of already happened.

Robb

It’s not the fact whether we want him gone or not it’s the fact we can’t afford to let him go. Like I said before, 2 months ago I wanted rid of him. The fact we have bought not one single midfielder and the transfer window is closed selling our only quality midfielder when we are trying to get back cl would be a huge mistake.
If we had bought two good midfielders in then we could maybe have coped with the loss but not now. Our options with Pogba are poor, without him are awful and even if he put in a transfer request we would have to reject it for the simple fact the position we are in. He’d get over it for one more year I’m sure of that

Imagine a very real scenario where Pogba does hand in a transfer request and it’s denied and he phones it in this season and the squad harmony is threatened.

That is why these points I make aren’t quite as black and white as people want to make out.

For what it’s worth I don’t think he will hand in a request. I’m sure he’ll stay, have a season where half the time he’s brilliant and half the time he’s awful and we’ll sell him next season

But this is the bit where you’re all being a bit silly - I’ve said I’d respect the club if we sold him IF he handed in a transfer request. Just an opinion, yet everyone has kicked off like I said we should replace the whole team with cats - which would be amusing, but not what I’m saying.

Short of making an official transfer request I doubt theres a person in football who isn't aware that pogba wants to leave.

He will go when it suits the club ie a proper fee is paid and a replacement lined up

Anything else at this stage of the season and the club particularly ed would be a bigger joke than already perceived if thats even possible

Straight after the game against Cardiff last season if someone told you that we would make a 70m+ profit in the summer and bought zero midfielders would you have respected the club?

Imagine if De Gea hands in a transfer request as well. Would you respect the club for selling both him and Pogba?

Lose respect for the club for selling and not replacing Lukaku (who wanted to leave and was unprofessional and unfit while angling for a move for months). Gain respect for selling the best MF at the club while not replacing him (who has angled for a move, but remained professional throughout).

These two positions of Robb's seem to be odd. I would understand if he had said this before the window closed when we would have had the time to replace him. At this moment in time where we couldn't replace him seems odd especially regarding the previous stance on no replacing someone.

Where have I said I’ve ‘lost respect’ for the club for not replacing Lukaku?

If you’re going to paraphrase someone to score cheap points then do your homework 😈

And your wider point is weird. It’s almost like you haven’t taken into account the scenario I’m implying where IF he hands in a transfer request I’d happily sell him. Your point doesn’t include that at all. Please do your homework when you reply to me next time son 👉

Handing in a transfer request doesn’t really mean much anyway. The club would just reject it.

If Pogba hands in a transfer request, then its sabotage.
We’ll just have to buckle in and take the hit.
I was thinking, maybe, we keep Pogba and that in Jan they would get a Mid.
But getting rid now, then buying in Jan would seem like panic to me.
Oh, and thats after Ed has sacked Ole at Xmas blaming him for UTDs mid table position..

I feel we are so close, if we can just hold onto him til next summer, man That window should be exciting!
Mids and Striker. Unless Greenwood is the second coming, maybe we dont need a striker/forward.
Just Mids. You can see the potential for a great team...

I’d be very surprised indeed if were to hand in a transfer request because he’d know very well the impact that it’d have and he’s been nothing but a picture of professionalism in his attitude and behaviour by all reports from within the club.

If Ole can do what SAF did with Christiano and persuade him to stay until the end of the season do his best and then we let him go, fair enough. And it gives us time to line up a replacement.
But keeping players who don't want to play for us is never a good idea, it's bad for the morale. And we are, or should be, bigger than any player.

I take it you lost respect for the club when Rooney handed in a transfer request and we didn’t sell then?

....

There is no valid reason not to hold onto him. The club should just put an end to it all and say it is way to late for that.

Further more Real don't appear to have the cash for buying him at present. Every thing they have done in recent weeks suggest players going the other way as part of any deal, which isn't going to happen with us.
