Lose respect for the club for selling and not replacing Lukaku (who wanted to leave and was unprofessional and unfit while angling for a move for months). Gain respect for selling the best MF at the club while not replacing him (who has angled for a move, but remained professional throughout).

These two positions of Robb's seem to be odd. I would understand if he had said this before the window closed when we would have had the time to replace him. At this moment in time where we couldn't replace him seems odd especially regarding the previous stance on no replacing someone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Where have I said I’ve ‘lost respect’ for the club for not replacing Lukaku?

If you’re going to paraphrase someone to score cheap points then do your homework 😈

And your wider point is weird. It’s almost like you haven’t taken into account the scenario I’m implying where IF he hands in a transfer request I’d happily sell him. Your point doesn’t include that at all. Please do your homework when you reply to me next time son 👉

I just summed up your position.

Even then (transfer request), the club needs to do what's best for itself in the situation. It would be utter stupidly for them to let Pogba go in such a situation. As not only does it weaken the team and making any future slightly above average CM signing over priced, it'll show that the club buckles to players, agents and other clubs.

You complained about not replacing Lukaku's goals. Don't think that's an issue personally as he wasn't suited to us and to get the best out of him we had to blunt others. He was also regressingtthe longer he stayed with us. He is a type of striker that looks good outside the top 6 but gets shown up when he makes the step up. We could have gone for a back up CF but for that we'd need Alexis to leave as well.

Imagine a very real scenario where Pogba does hand in a transfer request and it’s denied and he phones it in this season and the squad harmony is threatened.

That is why these points I make aren’t quite as black and white as people want to make out.

For what it’s worth I don’t think he will hand in a request. I’m sure he’ll stay, have a season where half the time he’s brilliant and half the time he’s awful and we’ll sell him next season

But this is the bit where you’re all being a bit silly - I’ve said I’d respect the club if we sold him IF he handed in a transfer request. Just an opinion, yet everyone has kicked off like I said we should replace the whole team with cats - which would be amusing, but not what I’m saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Straight after the game against Cardiff last season if someone told you that we would make a 70m+ profit in the summer and bought zero midfielders would you have respected the club?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’d respect the club for selling anyone who hands in a transfer request

That’s a personal point of view. Don’t know why it’s so offensive to you all 🤔
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I take it you lost respect for the club when Rooney handed in a transfer request and we didn’t sell then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bit of a different thing as he wanted to join City

Real are in a different league and not really our rivals anymore - for a while at least

While I don’t want players staying if they want to leave there are some small exceptions - and joining City or Liverpool should be those ones

Agree VC, I don't think Real have the money, that's why I think Ole should copy SAF and Ronaldo.

How Real act after the Celta Vigo game today will be interesting if they lose

I’m pretty sure the club will have made their position clear to Pogba. Handing in a transfer request won’t achieve anything.

If that’s the case the least he can do is shut down all the rumours

Saying last week there was still a question mark and the other day seeing his brother saying that Pogba could still move and still wants to leave

This is a guy who could be captaining us this season - would be great to see him come out and just say - ‘I’m committed to United’ and just crack on. He tweets about everything else. How hard is it to shut down the rumours?

How Real react will be irrelevant if they don't have the cash to stump up.

posted on 17/8/19

Doesn’t really matter what he says does it? There will still be speculation.

A lot less than if he remains silent and lets his hangers on keep saying he wants to leave

Maybe they might go the Arsenal route and pay with their Tesco clubcard points.

posted on 17/8/19

Doubt it. That’s not how press speculation works. What clubs and players are saying and doing doesn’t actually matter.

Ole has publicly stated numerous times that he is building the team around Pogba (in contrast I don't think he ever made any comments about Lukaku being a key player).

It was going to take silly money from Real Madrid (or other team) to convince United to let him go earlier in the window.
At this late stage and with no replacement possible, United are going to demand even more.

I think all parties are aware what it will take to get the deal done and the deal does not look viable.

Hope we keep him, there is no one of that level available, and that we are sure would sign for us (and Angel Gomes is not ready yet).

If a deal is done then I hope it's one that financially cripples Madrid.

I’d be very surprised indeed if were to hand in a transfer request because he’d know very well the impact that it’d have and he’s been nothing but a picture of professionalism in his attitude and behaviour by all reports from within the club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If he did would even a small part of you think - you know what, fack him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes; all of me would say, “fack him”.

But I wouldn’t want him sold. It’d be rank idiocy to sell him.

Players are advised not to counter any rumours/stories, simply because there are too many of them (and most of them rubbish) and it sets a precedent that they must always respond.
As soon as a player missed addressing a rumour, everyone would start jumping to conclusions.

"Stop thinking that a season without Pogba is 100% the worst thing to ever happen and we may meet in the middle"

But losing Pogba now is a terrible scenario!

The way we play, the way the team is set up, and all the preparation that has been done by Ole is based on having Pogba.

Unfortunately we don't have anyone to step in and play his role.
We do have acceptable backups for all other positions.

Not sure how long it would take for Ole and the team to adapt to playing without Pogba and the impact it would have on this season is not a risk anyone at the club would want to take.

posted on 17/8/19

If he wanted to go he should have been sold at the start of the summer in order for us to get a replacement.

I very much doubt he'd hand in a transfer request now though. It's unfortunate these rumours but it couls just be a way of getting a new deal too. Shutting rumours down that he wants to leave weakens his position in that case. As fans we love to see players who show their love for the club but, realistically for some, it's just a job for them. As long as he's professional then we should keep him.

I wouldn't bet against new deals for both him and De Gea once Sanchez is shifted.

Ole is talking out of his arsse or he’s daft. You don’t build a team around a player who wants to leave. He knows this, so is keeping the price high by making these statements..

posted on 17/8/19

It’s what he’s doing on the training pitch as well. Our midfield is built around Pogba, because he’s the only good one we have.

posted on 17/8/19

Wouldn’t be the first time. We built a team around want away Rooney, and gave him a rise.
Then did it again a few years later... well, the pay rise anyway.
No, Pogba got us by the short and curlies here.
He’s got to stay.

United won't sell him in this window. We can't replace him. It is as simple as that.
