But apparently Kane diving isn't as you're confused why it wasn't a penalty.

Are you referring to Sunday?

That clearly wasn’t a dive

It is funny to hear a Liverpool fan talking about diving...Like Mugabe talking about human rights

I think most Spurs fans on here have been pretty fair regarding their views on Sundays game.

The general feeling is that we were God awful but that was a nailed on pen and folk are quite rightly questioning why VAR didn't reverse the refs decision.

As for Lamela he didn't have a great game but who did? I think if Poch doesn't start Eriksen and Verts this weekend (providing they are still at the club) they'll be a riot.

The only thing VAR will change is offside goals, nothing else will change, and biased referees like Mike Dean will be allowed to continue to officiate to their own agendas, only now they have the added security of being able to hide behind VAR also.

Bias and corruption has never been so rife.

Do we have any information about how not getting the ball and taking the man out isn't a pen? I've been unable to face any reports or analysis on the game in the media.

What is the point of Lamela? He's been at Spurs 3 years longer than he has any right to have been.

There's a lot to answer in this post by Morespur.
But one point......VAR does NOT make decisions. Nor does i t"miss things". Never!
It is a video replay.
It is a tool for the referee to consult.
Its the referee who make any decision.
I do wish poeple on here would get this straight.

What an odd thing to write?

2 games ago he was the main reason we got anything at City.

Its made 2 big decisions for us against City.

Going against the linesman both times.

Maybe it needs to be kept for offsides but ditched for pens?

My take on sunday is that the 4-2-3-1 with Lamela as the no 10, did not work against a Newcastle side that were compact and organised at 5-4-1
with midfield very narrow stopping movement from Spurs through the central areas.
Spurs then tried runs on the left and right wings, mainly from KwP and Son. However, getting to the byline, the few times Spurs managed that
there were 3 defenders encircling Kane which meant the wingers had to look for another side pass, as their target was surrounded.
****************************
That's one way to look at this game.
Another way is that the Spurs midfield is simply too damned slow at going forward and catching the opposition out of position.
Spurs played sideways footsie and let Newcastle regroup into 5-5-0, which is pretty hard to bvreak thru.
Their goal came from 3 forward passes.
And both KWP and Sanchez were caught out of position.
I t was a most annoying goal to give away on a sucker punch!

Harry Kane said that Mike Dean told him that he did not clearly see the incident so could not be sure it was a penalty. So why didnt Dean go and look at a video replay on the sideline if he `didnt see it`

YEAH... I'll tell you why...Oh no... ACE will tell you why!
Truth is .. Dean wanted an excuse to not give a penalty. Had he consulted VAR he'd have seen what he "didn't see clearly".

The video assistant referee makes decision within the booth

Ask yourself.. why does the referee consult VAR?
If VAR "made the decision" why would the referee need to consult it?
Just ask from the pitch.
VAR is exactly the same kind of tool as Hawkeye in Tennis.
