Bit of a myth regarding Saiss really. I took a quick look the other week and don't believe he even has a red card prior to the one the other week in his career
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And he was a free transfer every time he moved clubs, until we spent 3.6 million on him.

I think it's thre unnecessary yellows that Saiss concedes that's the frustration. He seems to have mad moments of indiscipline.

On balance I'd say that's 3.6m well spent.

Just seen that Jimenez may not be back until Thursday as Mexico are playing on Wednesday evening. Don't like the sound of that much

Well spent? Its one of the best deals we have made

Didn't think we'd paid that much for him but getting him, Moutinho and Boly for what we did borders on theft

It's not a myth. He gets booked most games he plays. He had started 8 league games this season, has four yellow cards and a sending off (for a double yellow that isn't included in his yellow card stats). That's a pretty poor discipline record.

The fact is, in addition to his needless fouls he also lacks slightly in pace and he is likely to foul if he gets caught out. If he gets an early booking then he is a worry.

Matt Doherty scored late for Ireland, alas it wasn't enough to help them qualify, taking a step backward this campaign after a top two finish in the last qualifiers

It is a myth because every week people say ''ohh red card waiting to happen'' despite him only being sent off once in 270 odd games

Yes. We were the first club to pay a transfer fee. Good value though, I’ll admit. Shame we didn’t get him on a free. There are mmanagers who mmanage to use their mmagical talents to secure players for free, or next to nothing. We no longer need to do that, which shows how far we’ve come.

It’s the stupidity of Saiss’s fouls that is the frustration. The one he got in the last home game was a good example. The opponent was near to the halfway line going towards his own goal and Saiss couldn’t resist hacking him down. When he was sent off at Palace i remember saying to a friend I could see him getting a red today as soon as he was booked.

It’s a weakness of his for sure and it’s a shame because I think his defensive play is good

Herc scored one for Slovakia u21s today, still our player i believe.

Yeah, imagine if we had paid for Roger Johnson, O'Hara or Eggert Jonsson

Most annoying thing to me about Saiss is the needless free kicks he gives away within range of the penalty box more so than the bookings.

I can live with it though, plenty of class players get booked regularly. Jota got 11 bookings last season, that is pretty bad for a forward

posted on 19/11/19

So, stats for bookings last season.

Saiss 19 games 7 bookings ave 0.36
Bennett 34 games 12 bookings ave 0.35
Jota 33 games 11 bookings ave 0.33

His he so bad, don't think so, barely any difference.
Defenders are more likely to get booked than forwards.
As I have said before, get off his back.

Saiss only started 12 games last season though and all 7 bookings came in games he started. So in the starting 11 he has a rate of 0.58.

Bennett is also bad for bookings, but most of his are for tactical fouls. He still doesn't have as bad of a record as Saiss though.

Jota has it in him and is prone to petulance too.

Your comments about Saiss are getting as silly as cinci, Boston

I haven’t heard anyone criticise Saiss’s game, but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t think he gives away senseless free kicks and gets unnecessary bookings. Boly could have been a big miss for us but Saiss has stepped in and the defensive record of the team has remained good which is a credit to Saiss

posted on 19/11/19

It is weird how defensive people get over Saiss. Its not attacking him saying he has a proclivity for fouling and picking up bookings. Its a fair observation about a side of his game. I'm not sure why someone would get upset about it.

I'm not upset,

Josh King got injured playing for Norway this week and will miss the Wolves game at the weekend

posted on 19/11/19

Because of his lack of game time it seems Real Madrid may enter into negotiations to end Vallejo’s season long loan with Wolves in January. Under the terms of the agreement Wolves could insist he stays here until the summer but from what we have seen so far it’s probably in everyone’s interest to bring the deal to an end

posted on 19/11/19

Dont know why but Im still struggling to accept that a bloke called Josh King is Norwegian.

Im perfectly happy to accept that Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Fikayo Tomori are English, but after two years of working with Norwegians (sweeping generalisation alert....lazy buggers by the way...) I cant recall a single Josh. Plenty of Mortens, certainly a Harald or two and quite a few Bents. No Joshs or indeed Kings.

I said a month or so ago that I can see the loan ending early and as time goes by that scenario seems more and more likely

eh, silly comments about Saiss?!?! I only remember one person on here making a real silly comment about Saiss but I think we can all recognise now that it would have been ridiculous to have been lucky to give him away for nothing
