SARS, Ebola etc , were all still terrible diseases which killed a lot of people world wide. Flu kills people world wide every year. Ebola was awful in Africa. I think
We really need to get a bloody grip here, follow the guidelines and this will be tackled very soon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

SARS killed fewer than 800 people. In Italy alone, well over 1,000 have died from COVID-19. Yes, "only" 21 have died in the UK at present. But the day before it was 10. If it's 40 today, what's the prediction for tomorrow?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Every single additional death in the UK has been either been due to age and/or underlying health issues

The numbers coming out of Italy are a bit of an anomaly at 6.8% mortality
No other country, with the possible exception of Iraq & Iran are showing a rate higher than 4%
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Many European countries are down in the 0.2-0.5% mark.

Starting to think they need to either go to one extreme or the other, ignore and go on as normal given they think 40-70% are catching this anyway, so current restrictions are going to make little difference, OR total lockdown for a month so the virus cannot spread any further.

The current plan means this is going on for the rest of the year and then likely through next winter which would result in the economy being completely and utterly destroyed for decades.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Spain - 36% death rate of closed cases (recovered or dead)
Italy - 42% death rate of closed cases (recovered or dead)
UK - 54% death rate of closed cases (recovered or dead)
France - 88% death rate of closed cases (recovered or dead)
Germany - 18% death rate of closed cases (recovered or dead)

----------------------------------------------------------------------

These numbers you have posted are complete and utter crap and the type of thing that fuels the nonsense we are seeing from some people. Effectively, going by your numbers as an example, Tom Hanks or his missus, one of them is definitely going to die
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not at all - the average death rate of all cases closed is 7%. But those numbers above indicate that its definitely not 0.2% bolloks

Was talking to some of my family members from the village my parents are from in Pakistan about Coronavirus and they were like what virus?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only takes 1 to get in and get them started

There was ONE senior Hong Kong geezer that boarded the Diamond Princess and got 696 people infected and killed 7
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That is the worry. In these poor countries details are not being passed through. In the villages people get ill and if they cant afford to go to the doctors then they just die if there body cant fight it.

Germany as an example has 5381 cases......10 deaths and 9 others is critical condition.

Austria has 800 cases.....1 death......1 critical

Belgium 886 cases......4 deaths........33 critical

Yes, hence the average is 7% overall. And you need to look at closed cases. Open cases could have any outcome.

No, its true. It is also true that very few under the age of 60 will die

Death rates are a bogus number at this stage. They do not take into account unconfirmed cases of which there are lots. In every country bar S.Korea people with mild cases are not being tested and therefore they are not being added to the official total. People are either being told to go home until it gets worse or they are so mild they aren't even going to test centers. The case numbers being published are just a snap shot of the actual cases. Of course when you only test and log late advanced/severe cases where there is a high chance of death anyway, you are going to have a high death rate. S.Korea tested pretty much everyone and has a death rate less than 1%. Of course testing everyone, means you can take action earlier so less likely to die, but it also means that all cases are being considered.

Exactly, the numbers are worthless really as loads are not tested and also as governments want to give off false impressions.

Just tried to do a Sainsbury`s home delivery as a practice run, and there was a three week slot for delivery, and not one slot available. So it has not really even started yet and I couldn`t get a delivery even if I wanted to. So if the over 70s are not allowed out, and they cannot get food delivered. What are they actually supposed to do?

Probably to tell us all the toilet paper has run out.

it's just because it's a new hence the hysteria, it was apparently doing the rounds in november-december in UK lots of doctors/nurses saw people with exact same symptoms but couldn't diagnose and most recovered within a week

I'm sure i had it in 2017 exact same symptoms. Then again felt like i had it last week too, proper tight chest and shortness of breath for 2-3 days but then felt fine

Fack knows, so much stuff goes around from october-april every year could be anything

I had a cough etc that stuck around for over four weeks in November/December. Some days I was bedridden, some not. It has been pretty much agreed, however, that Covid-19 was not on this country then - no way.

Your “even if 6,000” figure is incredibly optimistic, given that there are more than twice that in Italy already.
