I will be honest - I haven't really read much about this whole voting fiasco. It bores me to tears.
Can someone clarify what is supposed to have happened re Dundee?
Did they email in their vote and then ask for it not to be counted after they realised they were in a position to maybe force change more favourable to them?
And are the SPFL saying they never counted Dundees 'no' vote because they never officially 'received' the email because it went into a quarantine folder?
This is what I am surmising from this thread and the few snippets I have failed to avoid.
Tell me this is not what has happened!
Are people genuinely trying to say that because an email went into a quarantine folder that it wasn't formally submitted and received?
That's fookin comical if its true......
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty much nailed it mate and indeed, it's farcical.
From what we've been told
Dundee mailed their no vote. They then confirmed that with ICT and Thistle and sent them a copy of the form.
It appears to have gone into spam or junk or maybe just frozen in the ether
The SPFL counted the votes and released them just not too long after 5pm deadline acknowledging that 3 teams hadn't returned their votes. It became quickly apparent that there was a Championship club was one and that they would be the deciding vote
At this stage the SPFL called Dundee to ask where their vote was. Realising that it hadn't been officially received they decided to have a rethink and sent in a communication instructing the SPFL to ignore any vote slip they might find later and that they would be making use of the 28 day rule.
That is legal (Although many will argue)
They then find the vote later (no idea where)
Everyone cottons on it's Dundee and all hell breaks loose.
Farcical doesn't even begin to sum it up.
Happens less with emails but delayed delivery happens with me regularly.
Where's my dinner, I texted you....
surely calling the leagues as they are is the best possible scenario right now.
celtic are 13 points clear ffs, are any rangers fans honestly going to say that they were on the brink of winning their last 9 on the trot while celtic dropp 11 our of 24 points? the majority conceded the league ffs.
calling it means teams get their money, which is what rangers want yes? it means we have set places for Europe which gives rangers a chance at future cash next season, which they will likely need.
i'm on board with reconstruction but we stand to lose 2 old firm games and I don't know how big a tv deal we get on that basis, I think if that happens then it will be back to the negotiating table with Sky, and in all likelihood, a reduced offer.
health and jobs could be secured by calling it early, I see no reason as to why we shouldn't do this.
So it has now been established that Dundee did submit a 'no' vote within the timeframe but it was directed into a different email folder?
Then why do they get a chance to change their vote?

It wasn't likely that Rangers would win the title. But abandoning a season and dishing out prizes isn't the best possible scenario until there are no other scenarios or time left.

Could still maybe play the games in June? Even behind closed doors?
i'm all for waiting miller to see if they can be played behind closed doors at the very least.
but I don't see an alternative to what the spfl have suggested.

No was never a locked in vote. Could have a wee think and a quick check of a statement and get back with a change of heart.
i'm off the opinion that if they submitted, then its done.
that said, if the had not counted dundees vote and Dundee then asked for a rethink, then I think that's within their rights as well
so clear as mud really
all they had to do was say votes must be in by 5pm. none of that 5pm tomorrow please but if not then a few weeks later.

We don’t know where it actually went. Might have been a different folder. Might have been accidentally deleted. Who knows?
Point is they managed to put in a formal and received communication to the SPFL instructing them to ignore any betting slip as they wanted more time.
And no I’m not going through all this again
FFS they can't play games behind closed doors while we're all socially distancing.

It's very unfair on the Diddy teams. They're way more affected than ours. Now I'm not going to pretend I would normally give that much of a fuq about them but it's fitting my narrative of sporting integrity must be honoured like a glove.

But that's sparked a furious reaction from Brescia president Massimo Cellino, who has insisted he will not field a team again this season - whatever the punishment may be.
He stated: "I reiterate that if there are games played again, Brescia will not play.
"This is not a provocation. They can dock points if they want, I take all responsibility.
"I see too much selfishness and too many people trying to take advantage of this situation.
"Seriously, let them take a walk around Brescia and see what’s happening here. I don't want any advantages and I'm not afraid of relegation, because I know the club won’t go bankrupt and we’ll earn our place back in Serie A."

It might not be that crazy and idea that closed doors could happen.
I don't care or want to know your moral or political stance on this, but I could see it the next 2/3 weeks the lockdown restrictions being gradually lifted.
More and more time at COBRA meetings, Cabinet meetings Scottish Govt meetings will start to turn towards saving the economy and business.
Callous as that sounds someone in power is going to have to make a decision pretty soon on how many lives can be reasonably justified being put at risk to have an economy to come back to.
100, 1000, 5000 who knows, its horrible but I think the pressure will be on that kind of thinking soon.
Like I said its not my viewpoint on the matter or my morals just how I see it going.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That pressure is on now.
“If you are a supporter and you have bought a season-ticket for your club, in theory, you are entitled to a refund on that because the club hasn’t fulfilled the contract that was agreed with the consumer.
“Now most football fans are resolute behind their clubs and won’t ask for it back. I haven’t heard about anyone asking at this stage, but it is the principle.
“It’s all in the same thing. Sponsors can come back for money, fans can come back for money, anyone who has paid for something that is deemed null and void has a valid point.
