Top 5 Oasis Songs?

Oasis cover of I am the walrus is the better version

I've missed most of this thread, just logged in to JA606.

I agree that they've written so many good songs that it's hard to put together a top 5. It's telling that nearly all the songs suggested on here are either from their first two albums or B sides from that era. I am a huge Oasis fan and liked all of their albums except maybe their final one, 'Don't believe the truth' I think it was.

New topic, what is the best song by either Noel or Liam Gallagher since Oasis split up?

I would say, "You know we can't go back" by Noel.

Noel said his Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds was meant to be the next Oasis album so would have been interesting to hear how that would have sounded with Liam singing it

Blur.

Nah, not for me.

They are just Coldplay while pretending to be working class. Least Coldplay know they are middle class whankers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Blur are nothing like Coldplay, at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Coldplay don’t pretend to be what they are not. As soon as anyone middle class gets a cosmetic gold tooth you know they are whankers.

Name me half a dozen decent tunes from them and then look at the radio x top 100 British and tells you all you need to know who had better tunes.

You’re gonna look at Radio X’s 100 British songs with Sam Fender and the Courteeners in the top 10?!

Bring it on down best tune by Oasis. Good first and second albums after that they and thier music are boring, and Liam has nothing to offer 20 years later, a bit like Weller boring as feck.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some of Liam's new stuff is quite good.

Saw him live in Belfast last year, maybe two years ago and Richard Ashcroft was backing him up. Ashcroft stole the show. Was outstanding.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Watched them at Glasto 94, not massive at that point, but remember it being a cracking gig, a few years later at the same festival, it was sh!te

Saw Liam a lot in the Arndale early 90s, just as they started to make it big, he was just about alright then, moved to London a few years later and started seeing him a lot in the pubs in Hamstead Heath, he was a right pillock

With regards to all that Blur v Oasis stuff

Blur’s music stands up a lot better today than Oasis’s

Apart from Song 2, hate that as much as Wonderwall
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Agree Blur were better, but bothe excellent.

Can't stand Song 2 or Parklife though. Both stupid songs

Favourite Blur songs for me are :

1. Beetlebum
2. Tender
3. The Universal
4. End of a century
5. Girls & Boys
----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Country house and charmless man
----------------------------------------------------------------------

‘To The End’ has to be on any top five Blur songs list.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Balls I meant to write ‘To the End’ instead of End of a century

Wouldn’t say that. Just looks what’s more popular. Housemartins not making list for at least one song shows it’s flawed voting. Like football fans thinking the game started in 92.

Not really a big fan of Oasis (sonically interesting, but I can't stand the corny/cringey lyrics), but I had an Oasis phase in my teens. My top 5 is:
1) Supersonic
2) Wonderwall
3) Masterplan
4) Whatever
5) Shakermaker

Not an oasis fan, wonderwall grates on me, along with Don’t look back in anger, two of the most overexposed songs ever
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There's a beautiful simplicity to Wonderwall. I facking hate "Don't look back in anger" though and that reetarded "anthemic" chorus.

I was 17 when I got What's the Story, which I think is pretty much the perfect age.

Hearing 'Don't Look Back in Anger' - which I think I must have already heard a couple of times before in a mate's car - blaring out in my own bedroom on Christmas Day '95 is something I'll never forget

As for Wonderwall, it just seemed to be on *everywhere* around that time - and that was no bad thing for me.

Well then you’re weird

As Jalisco said, and it was the same for me, the music you’re into when you’re coming of age is usually what sticks with you .
