Footballers are in the low risk category .They should listen to David Spielgelhalter, who is a big Spurs fan btw, and not Sergio Aguero.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Neither are Healthcare Professionals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What is your point ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the point of your comparison?

Aguero just said a lot of players were nervous about playing in the current climate, he wasn't offering any advice.

Clubs going under will be low on the priority. The driving force will the PL clubs. Didn’t see any energy to save Bury.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Completely different. Prem clubs have already committed to helping lower league clubs of they finish the season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which we won’t. What then?

3 Brighton players have just tested positive for the virus and we still want the PL to go ahead?

There is a drive to get football on for many reasons. One of them being that tens of clubs will no longer exist if this carries on for another 3 months.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So what, lots of firms won`t exist either. Football clubs can reform, people that catch it and die cannot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Vulnerable, low-paid workers that die or sink into further chronic social and health problems from firms/businesses closing cannot reform either. Do their lives count less than a coronavirus life? I’m sure you’ve commented before about how austerity has killed people, so it is surely important to at least appreciate businesses closing, will also kill people. Like with austerity, the lowest paid and most vulnerable people in society.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the side that's often ignored on here. Don't Spurs alone have over 3000 workers? And that's just Spurs alone. There must be tens of thousands of jobs and businesses in English football, which are as much at risk as any other jobs.

Where will all these workers go during the time when Spurs are reforming? Football can reform but so can any other business so that's no reason.

Its like telling workers involved in football that their job/income means less, or is of less value than other jobs because its a football related job.

IMO, with the exception of key/essential workers other jobs are more of less equal in importance and as many as possible should be saved whether that be in football or any other industry.

The difference is David understands risk and Sergio doesn't . One has spent his adult life studying it and the other like the rest of us works on emotional guesswork that is just human nature. Right now we need to listen to people who understand it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There shouldn't be any avoidable risk involved at all.

Football should resume when it's safe for everyone concerned and that includes the fans.

That will in all probability be when a vaccine is found in a couple of years time. A sensible time to restart. Until then we need somebody in authority from the FA, Prem or whoever to come out make a statement, and call it a day, until that time comes.

Mad to close them in the first place.

My local course has become a focal point for joggers and dog walkers, there's more people on it than ever before.

I never thought they should have closed either. Easy to play and still practice social distancing.

If were being honest, none of us has a clue about how to handle this.

Unless you an epidemiologist, health minister or member of government, then you're guessing.

What we're not hearing is what happens to the tens of thousands of jobs that would be lost if football has to reform. How is your approach a reasonable one when you don't want to consider all the facts?

All businesses are scrambling to stay afloat and we support that but in football its like, "oh, just let the clubs fold, football can reform".

What about thousands and thousands of people who will lose jobs and have families to provide for and educate etc? Are we going to allow these people to join the unemployed statistic just because its football when something could have been done to save these jobs?

Football has protected itself. Its all about the money and has lost its way blah blah blah... but you can hardly do anything about it because the collateral damage would be unbearable.

I just don't get it. We've got one side of the debate nailed down but completely oblivious of other facts that might disagree with our preferred opinions.

To be fair to China, once they saw how bad it was about to get, they just shut down entire cities. And whilst they have probably underplayed the figures a tad, I suspect we will never know for sure. They have 2 billion citizens, so they have in all probability down far, far better than GB.

Yesterday the parks over here were full of people sunbathing, the day before there were street parties. Is it any wonder GB is 2nd only to the USA for deaths as it stands.

China’s population isn’t 2 billion. It’s about 1.4 billion

Project Refart is being driven solely by the money men at SKY TV, they have control of the TV rights in all the leagues that are risking a resumption of football.

Germany, Spain, Italy and ourselves are all under the greed of SKY, the leagues that are not, like France and Holland have already done the sensible thing and cancelled their seasons (though France went and spoiled that decision by awarding PSG the title).

People have no idea how bad a product behind closed doors and in neutral venues will be, it will be truly an awful watch, and all just to appease the money men and a handful of clubs.
