Its about the subconscious bias. Its about opportunity to improve and not who has endured poverty. Its about equality and not about who committed what crimes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yaa, Yaa...very Prince Harry on subconscious bias.

Equality training should also entail not making sectarian remarks or jokes about the Orange order, then.

Or any other Order or religious or political group.

Just sayin

There is a blurred line between racism and identity but there is no doubt who the biggest victims of racism are and it isn't us white guys that's for sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Does it matter who the biggest victims are.

That’s like saying you can’t feel sorry for someone who’s lost an arm cause some people have lost 2
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes it does matter . We have to sort out problems in society.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So we can only sort out people who have the biggest issues first?

We can’t deal with other people’s problems too?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not what I said. And I do think it is far worse in the US with their history .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is though.

You said it matters who the biggest victims are. What about the second or third biggest?

Just let them deal with it themselves?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No but maybe start with it?

Other minority groups are standing with BLM because they agree that it's a priority. Eg pride, other BAME communities.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Other minorities are not out marching with BLM in numbers...mostly black and white, mate.

Chinese and Indian Americans are successful, and just get on...likewise in the UK, many Asian folk vote Tory.

Bame lumps many diffent stories together and should not be used so much, imo

Well I think WLM is bs and just a distraction. In reality I think the problem is a generational one. Hopefully the younger ones are better educated on this issue .
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sadly they don't appear to be better educated - they just like the idea of being "better" than others and will pretty quickly drop the idea when something new comes along.
They suffer the main major problem as racists - trying to find a superficial reason to announce themselves as superior to others.

Quite a mix up there.
Black people are just people who happen to be black. Nothing to mock.

The Orange Order mainly consists of an anachronistic bunch of right wing uber bigots who deserve to be mocked at every opportunity.

Astonishing that anyone cant see the distinction.

Don't disagree with you about the BAME term but there are loads of Asian representation at the rallies and online and several organisations in these communities speaking in support.

In fact Asian Americans and their activists are one of the most vocal supporters of BLM.

Many Asian Americans understand why there is a different problem. Although they undoubtedly have problems with racism they were never subjected to the state abuse the black community were due to policies like redlining etc which still creates imbalances today.

That said there are a few Asian American groups who don't agree and believe they are subject to the same problems and are reluctant to back the movement but that's certainly smaller numbers and would hardly call that viewpoint getting on with it.

Ivan.

Have you seen BLM group policies?

Do you think racial politics from America transports to Aberdeen?

BLM seek to dismantle capitalism, police/armed forces, prisons and say climate change is racist.

They seek to end all borders, so Scots Indy is gone.

They obsess about Churchill statue and call suffragettes white power racist ......and accuse the Tories of being racist for hiring a female of Pakistani origins?

The idea of white reparation payments is weird too, as I have never owned slaves and don't think granda did either.

I get police brutality, institutional racism and the definition of "white privilege".

UK cops only killed three people in recent years, not all blsck...compared to thousands in America, and we have diversity training, anti-discrimination legislation, black educational scholarships, and from 3.5 % of the UK black population, we have black people in all jobs and aspects of culture, tv, sport, news media, writers, music, etc etc.

If anything, the BLM group are stirring up racial politics in the UK...where we had progressed from last century.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't want to go into this but I will with you mate.

The aims of that organisation are one thing, but the reality is that the movement has transcended any individuals or groups and is now something much bigger.

BLM isnt, imo, about specific aims and objectives. It's about beliefs, attitudes and how we behave towards each other.

BLM is likely different things to different people and I wouldn't get bogged down by the aims of a small section. BLM isnt theirs. It's everyones.

He is a loony. Cant handle his pathetic logic being thrown back at him so resorts to point scoring over CA. Now he think his pathetic logic being thrown back is serious and is getting his panties wet over it.

Better left ignored. He turns every discussion into catholic, protestant blah blah and makes assumptions on people's religions. Did you know he married a Catholic? Not sure he has mentioned it today...ot obviously gives him carte blanche to ignore racism

Aye they definitely don't like blackface. Skin colour isn't exactly a choice they can't really let us join in that way.

BLM has been very inclusive though surely? Look at the pride representation. In fact there is more white protesters than minority. Seems quite inclusive.

If you fell excluded, it's probably by choice I would suggest

You have people who agree with BLM who obviously aren’t racist so have nothing to change/gain etc

People who disagree with BLM who aren’t racist so have nothing to change/gain etc

People who disagree with BLM who clearly are racist and are unwilling to change their views..

So I don’t really get who it’s aimed at.

The only thing I can see it doing is virtue signalling the first, causing division and exacerbating the third

Yes, that is how we stop sectarianism.

Demonizing the people represented on the Irish flag and in republican ideology....Protestant, Catholic and Dissenter.

Their are bigots in the Orange just as there are bigots in the AOH, Catholic church and Celtic support.

But, you fire away mags.

Asking black people to boycott white shops is racist, as was Joshua mocking a "disgrace" of a white boxer, challenging his black superior race..his words.

1 person did and it wasn't Joshua as you have claimed. He read a speech that was passed to him. Additionally I don't have problem with people boycotting businesses that don't promote inclusion or infact asking black people to spend money in their own communities (which was the main point of that speech btw) as I also prefer to support local businesses, why would anyone have a problem with that?

People talk about boycotting businesses all the time for other unethical reasons such as envoitmental damage, institutional sexism and other causes. Depriving them of income has seen many policy changes in companies and has almost always been seen as a good thing.

Wonder why it's different in this case?
