why are people comparing Giggs and Salah and especially their scoring records??

giggs played in midfield... salah plays up front
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I would have thought Thierry Henry would be more apt for comparison.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Giggs is only mentioned because the particular stat has him as the PL leading winger goal scorer.

Liverpool have two of the best forwards the league has seen in the PL era. Salah is probably top five.

With that squad, despite the injuries, they’ve really underperformed this season.

Should be blowing everyone out of the water really with the personnel at Klopp’s disposal.

1st Henry
2nd Ronaldo (his years in prem league. Overall career it be ronaldo)
3rd Salah
4th Hazard

Salah is quality but he's not an out and out winger like Giggs was.

Henry over Salah every day of the week, which is no reflection on Salah.

Not sure how much of that is sarcasm but it is evident that depsite having a strong attack it does not help you win the league. Hence we won it once virgil and ali came in. It is no suprose we struggled in those tight games in jan without virgil/gomes etc

......

Which is fine if you are talking about wingers. Mo isn’t a winger. But you already know that. Which makes you a bit of a window licker really.

Salah is down as Right Winger. He plays on the right. Who was marking him when we played United? It was Luke Shaw who is a left back.

Salah is a winger who gets in the box

The game has simply changed.

You could put Salah as an orthodox winger though and I'm pretty sure he'd still comfortably outscore Giggs.

I mean we saw Salah tracking back to his own six yard box last night in defence too to head the ball away, didn't see too much of that from Giggs either.

Both fine players.

I think the fact Salah gets most Liverpool goals tells you he’s their main striker

Giggs was a winger who set up United strikers

Prime Hazard is better than Salah so far. I dunno whether Salah will improve though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You spent months arguing with Chelsea fans that Salah was better than Hazard, only a couple of seasons ago.

It is amazing how the mousers think to be honest.

They'll soon start saying Gerrard was as good as Scholes.

The most assists Giggs ever got in one league season was twelve.

None of it is sarcasm.

Having a strong attack doesn’t help you win the league? Sorry, I’m struggling to understand that.

You haven’t been failing to win games because you’ve been defensively poor; it’s because Klopp hasn’t had your attack firing through a couple of spells: couldn’t score against Burnley, us, Southampton, Newcastle; couldn’t get a winner against West Brom, Fulham, Brighton or City.

You’ve been stop-start and often ineffective in possession.

Even with the injuries, most weeks Klopp has been able to put out the strongest XI in the league, particularly offensively. They aren’t an excuse for failing to win those games listed above.

Salah averages ten assists per season (Prem), Giggs 6.75.

His goals were magnificent yesterday. Not many can score goals like that in 100 games let alone 1.

posted on 1/2/21

Comparing Giggs with Salah is a bit silly really but I suspect most know that.

I would say though that if we had Salah at United we'd be clear at the top now. He's a fine player who gets goals out of nothing sometimes.

Err this is utter bollox Rosso, sorry.

Like it's completely devoid of tactical analysis and extremely reductive. I'm surprised in fact.

Not as surprised as I was when you said Utd play as entertaining football as anyone in the league but still surprised.

How's lock down treating you? I'm assuming badly.
