Awful news. Nice guy - my mate taught him saxophone when he was playing at Rangers.

Shocking news on Gary Stevens. Absolutely brutal thing to happen.

Heartbreaking news about Gary Steven’s son. Don’t even want to imagine how they must be feeling.

From what we can see from the outside this looks like a great appointment. Happy with the appointment and happy with how efficiently it was made.

I'm terms of Gerrard, no hard feelings from me. He improved us massively, won us the league at long last, and leaves us top of the league with a good squad. He also struggled to get us really going this season, and not entirely convinced he was going to find the answer. Perhaps having to win over a new manager is what's needed to shake the complacency out of some players. All in all, perhaps a good time for a fresh start for all involved.

anyword yet on who else is coming with him?

Like all managerial appointments it could go either way but Gio has a lot of pluses against his name.

Former player, style of play, glittering career, decent experience, has won a cup etc.

So all in he was a bit of a no brainier. He will have the fans on his side from the start and hopefully the players respond.

Top of the league whilst sleepwalking under SG….time to wake up and step it up Rangers👍

Question for the Bears

Why do you think this is a great appointment?

Is it because
a. he is a terrific manager
b. he played for Rangers and Barca
c. just hope it will work out

He has had the most successful managerial career of any of the candidates we were linked with. Let's be real, he's not Guardiola, but he's also not McInnis or Lampard.

I wouldn’t say it’s a great appointment. On the surface of it he looks a very good fit.

Knows the expectations at the club, he’s a winner as a player and manager, plays a similar set up to the one our squad was built for.

No guarantee of success but a decent chance of a smooth transition with minimal disruption.

And who knows he might just tighten them up at the back and get Alfie firing up top. Two things team Gerrard failed to do this season
