They're both exceptional teams.
Both are overrated but Liverpool more so.
Other teams dont have our quality up front.
We need a plan b for teams that employ burnley tactics against us
I feel like teams are so scared of these two they just stick 10 men behind the ball
=======
That is what Spurs did.
I honestly think the way Spurs played yesterday, not that many teams in the league are capable of. Trusting our defence enough to allow them plenty of the ball, and having the confidence and understanding to play through their press, and create something useful out of it….takes some talented players and ‘note perfect’ coaching.
A lot of teams would end up turning those tactics into ‘park the bus and hoof it’.
JK calling us world class according to SSN . Very nice of him.
Good article OP. I think both are a tad overrated if the truth be told. The Prem is of a pretty poor quality, where not enough teams are capable of taking points of them like Spurs do.
The good thing about it, is that Spurs with their result against both the sides are manoevering themselves into a position now to start challenging the top two in the future.

Playing through the press when up against players the calibre of Liverpool’s is a very brave way to play.
The game at White Hart Lane should have been a win for us. Can't really complain about last night though, we just weren't good enough.
They're obviously very good teams, but are the rest of the league making them look better than they are?
======
The rest of the league doesn't have the players to park a bus and still be a threat to be fair. Also Spurs got whooped a record number of times in a single season by Chelsea who have been hammered by teams like Brentford. Spurs made them look good.

It's the only way to play with our lot. It's the easy and sensible option.
Brave is trying to match them but they will always over power us because they have more athletic and better players.
We know Liverpool play a high line, with the joint best press in the league with City. You either match them or defend for your lives, sticking bodies in the way of shots and having 10 men behind the ball. The second option is sensible and hope you hit them on the break. Nothing brave about it. But it does take discipline and organisation.
I don't think any other Prem team will be unbeaten in the four games against the two of them this season.
On that basis we should be given third place and Arsenal and Chelsea can play off for Fourth.
Sometimes when a team does something exceptional the powers that be need to be flexible and reward it.
Bonkers to think that on the balance of clear chances created we really should have doubled City & Liverpool.

Your lot have done well against them this season but that doesn't mean the premiership is of poor quality because you can do it and no one else can. Palace took 4 points off City this season. The mid table clubs are better coached, well financed and have good quality players. Unless you're seriously good, like Liverpool and City are then it is hard to consistently pick up wins. No one is close to them and a few isolated results doesn't change that.

True regarding the goal kicks but there were many times when we lumped it long and Kane was outnumbered and we surrendered possession easily. We had 35% possession yday and I'm guessing we countered them with the ball in their half about 6 or 7 times in the whole match.
If that is your definition of brave the fair enough.

Didn't work as our press didn't tire and rarely does.. Not smart either as we have replacements who can come in and keep pressing.
I think possession was the rationale. Kane and Son would have lost out to VVD and Konate with regular goalkicks so starting short made more sense.

As for the OP, yeah, Conte has set up well against both us and City and utilises Sons strengths against both our weaknesses (or simply high line).
Your defenders also literally put in 20 quality blocks to stop shots but... good grief it's terrible to watch. For the money Spurs have spent I'd be dissapointed if not embarrassed.

Pack defence and defend in numbers then counter at speed. Reminds me.of Benitez at Liverpool and he had lots of success with it. Problem is it's great against teams that dominate possession but not so much against the lesser teams that sit back. There lies Spurs problem. Was the same with Benitez.
