Why do I always feel like I've been mugged when these things happen.

Oh yes, I have been mugged.

I'd like to see that ref, or any other cheat, try to convince me that if it was Sa on Rashford he wouldn't have given a penalty

We had a bad decision go against us. Time to put it bed and move on though.

Time to carry discussing anything for as long as anyone wants

Daniel Podence still expected to move on before the month end with Wolves hoping to recoup at least £10m. Latest club interested are evidently Celtic

I'm not a Podence knocker, he did OK for us last season. Wasn't he second top scorer (with about 3 ffs). However, I don't think he adds much to this current squad. Very early days I know, but O'Neill appears to have us playing far more direct, getting into the box and scoring positions. Podence was much more of the tippy-tappy around the edge of the box.

That said he, like many others, was probably only doing what he was told to do. Maybe he could adapt. It's difficult to imagine that Gary has had much chance to assess that.

If he goes I suspect that it will be more to do with getting £10m into the bank account.

Podence scored 6 last season and was joint top scorer I think. He could still do a job for us in my opinion and would probably benefit from us playing quicker and getting people in the box.

He can blow hot and cold though, so is probably one that is easier to move on for us when we have Neto, Nunes, Sarabia and Hwang who can all fill the wide roles. As well as the potential to move RAN forward or recall Chiquinho in January.

I just don’t see Podence playing much of a role for us this season. We have Sarabia, Cunha, Neto, Silva, Kalajdzic, Hwang to chose from for the forward line and I suspect Podence is behind all of those in the pecking order.

£10m may open the door to us making a signing or two and I don’t think we have another player worth that much who is unlikely to play a big part. So a sale feels best both for the club and the player

From what i can gather it is his attitude that moved him closer to the door.

Handy player but ten mill is a good return at this stage I think, especially if that is the difference between getting Elvedi or not.

Strange things going on between Wolves and West Ham. Cresswell may still be coming and maybe Antonio too. Their U21 manager Mark Robson agreed to join us but now Moyes has promoted him to Assistant Manager to persuade him to stay

christ, I hope Antonio and Cresswell doesn't happen

Same. Neither really seem to fit what we saw last night.

Still find it incredible that it’s only two years since we had what was arguably one of the best front lines in the division, according to one luminary on here.

Evidently a frontline of Traore Jimenez and Neto was the envy of all of the top teams back then, even though there was very few goals between them.

Maybe Fulham are planning to raid us for Neto and reassemble our deadly frontline from yesteryear?

Pleased that wolves are now saying that Fabio will not be sold or loaned out this summer. Could be a breakthrough season for him

I think we can take that with a pinch of salt. If someone came in with a significant offer then he'd be gone.

I think from the squad we have now that our best set up would be 4231

Two from Lemina, Gomes and Traore in defensive midfield

Three from Nunes, Cunha, Neto, Sarabia and Hwang in the forward line playing behind Fabio or Sasa

Disagree unsurprisingly.

I would go with the fluid 4-4-2 set up that GON also prefers.

Sa
Semedo Dawson Kilman RAN
Neto Gomes Lemina Nunes
Silva Cunha

Biggest concern is as always, it looks a team short on goals

I would certainly go with Bueno At left back. Utd were getting in behind RAN a number of times and I think that’s why eventually he was taken off. Not only do I think Bueno is a better defender, I also think when he gets forward his final ball is better than RAN

posted on 16/8/23

Same team as last game but with Silva in for Sarabia. No idea why anyone would want to overly tinker with it after that performance.

We created loads of chances. On another day Cunha would have scored that chance, one of Silva's snap shots would have gone in, Neto would have chosen the right side or we'd have been awarded a penalty. Goals will come if we keep creating chances.

I also don't think Bueno is as solid defensively as people make out. He regularly gets excused for defensive errors, most likely because he is an academy product. He was playing in both the Brighton and Arsenal hammerings last season and was at fault for several goals outside of those games.

His delivery is probably better than RAN's from wide positions when he crosses, but RAN is a better player in pretty much every other aspect.

I think RAN "ran" out of steam on Monday and that's the reason he was taken off at the same time as Cunha. He covered a lot of ground up and down the line and was part of many of our attacks.

Interesting to see what GON does on Saturday. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see the same starting eleven, even though I would prefer Fabio up top supporting Cunha more and getting the best out of him.

Yeah, RAN regularly get cramp late on in games so I think it's wise to bring him off. He covers a lot of ground, but I do wonder why he always seems to tire more than others regularly.

He hasn't had much competitive football during this calendar year to be fair to him. I think match fitness will improve if we stick with him.

No doubt in my mind that his ceiling is potentially and evidently higher than the majority of our squad though.

He was the same prior to his spell out though. He always goes down with cramp late on if he starts a game.

Great observation then.

Good to watch the England women winning their semi final earlier to reach the World Cup final, looked like the game might slip away from them when the Aussies equalised but to bounce back with two more goals showed great character. Best of luck to them against Spain in the final, won’t be easy.

The standard of women’s football is improving at such a fast rate
