If we go into next season losing that final and being massively down in both spirit and finances.......I think it could be a disaster again.
Just wish we had competent people running this club. The way INEOS handled the ETH situation doesn't give me much faith that they are any better than what came before. You can publicly look for a replacement and then go back on it and give him a 1 year extension. It's quite honestly one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen in professional football.
Whatever happens with Amorim, no doubt he will reflect on his first season and learn from it. I both admire his honesty, but sometimes feel he doesn't have to be so honest!!!
I think he totally gets the situation and that what is happening right now is not acceptable. I'm not sure he is threatening to leave, more that he knows if things don't improve he is out. He may think this may actually buy him more time, maybe he is so broken that he just feels negative.
I actually don't think the EL result affects whether he stays or not - he himself has said that, in that there are bigger things to consider, not just a trophy at stake, not just CL football next season, but more where the club is going from an overall performance point of view.
It is the complete opposite of what ETH was like - was in complete denial of all the bad things that were happening and just constantly trying to say all the good things he had done.
Amorim is almost at the other end of the spectrum in terms of how he deals with the media - you probably want somewhere in the middle, so acceptance of any good things but also recognising the bad. ETH never really learnt to deal with that, hopefully Amorim can for next season.
I have to say, I did not think our league results would be so bad towards the end, even if we are focusing on the EL. It really is a sorry state of affairs
He needs to be sacked whether we win or lose the cup.
Giving this bloke millions to spend on a specialised system is the most idiotic thing that can happen.
No genuine fan of this club wants to see 5 at the back formations with the likes of Amad as the furthest player back defending time and time again.
I don't like singling players out because the problems we have are much deeper than one player......
However starting Rasmus is like playing with 10 men every single week. He is a million miles off the required standard. Quite possibly the worst striker I have seen at Utd who gets regular starts and minutes.
The thing is I don't think we're that particularly awful in games. It's just that it's all a lot of 'nothing' at times. Like plenty have said before a proper goalscorer masks a lot of issues. We are desperate to add goals to this team.
The Summer signings will be crucial, no matter who the manager is. Our team needs to be able to compete physically against other PL teams.
In the final it may perhaps suit us to sit back and try and hit on the break. I'd start with a Bruno, Amad, Garnacho front three that game. If we play Hojlund it'd be easier for the Spurs CBs to mark. Those three up front offer a bit more IMO. It's Casemiro and one other for CM then.
Please just stop with all this toxic situation malarkey!
A lot of managers took over clubs this season and improved them.
This is a calamitous season from this new manager, there is no way to marinade it. This is new depths of low. This is not a squad to be finishing 17th. The manager has had a lot to do with this. It is embarrassing. The excuses are embarrassing!
I am glad he came out to tackle this nonsense of getting into a stage where Manchester United is acting like the league does not matter. This is a dangerous area and some of our fans are in this sunken place.
We could also do with Dalot back as well. I know this will sense shivers down some spines but we could do with Maz back in the back three IMO and with Dalot's energy up and down that touchline.

Assuming we win EL..
What should happpen - Sack Amorim and bring in someone like Ancelotti and allow him bring in players he wants to rebuild the team.
What is going to happen: Let Amorim go into next season, result will stay the same, sack him by November and then panickly bring in someone who is enjoying a purple patch
To be honest I do actually think there's now a stronger possibility he gets sacked if Spurs beat us. A few weeks ago I thought he would probably survive either way if we made the final and lost it but no PL win in 7 isn't helping his cause really.
It's a huge game for Amorim and Ange. The loser is definitely going to come under a barrage of pressure and scrutiny.

I think he'll be fine and will be manager at the start of next season. He must have been given some assurances that he'd be allowed to do things his own way.
It's players we need, no matter who the manager is.
I reckon we'll sneak the Europa next week by hook or by crook.
For the record if this carries on in the PL into next season then I'd be all for replacing him at Xmas if he's been backed with new players over Summer.
He, just about, gets a pass for this year if it's to really benefit next season. If it doesn't though then that's two seasons wasted and I think he'll know that as well.
I would argue giving ETH an extra three months has possibly saved us from relegation.
He can make whatever veiled comments he wants. He is stubborn to the point of stupidity, and is on the job learning at the biggest club in the world.
Said it after game 1 I watched at OT under him. He will either change his system, or be sacked. As ever, we will see with time who is proved right.
A big club would have acted by now and ended this mad experiment instead of choosing blind faith over what is happening in front of their eyes.

What a load of nonsense. We were 13th and garbage in every game under ETH too.
Had we hired Ruben in summer and gave him the £200m to spend on his players we may have been fine and finished in top 8. We will never know that of course.
The worst thing we did was give ETH an extra 3 months and then realised just how daft that was and decide to try a new formation out mid season. I have said all along Amorim should have been a summer 2024 appointment or a summer 2025 appointment. Doing it mid season wasn't his preference nor mine. This is what happens when you have imbeciles running a football club. Might be rich in their own business field but they haven't got a clue about football.

Yeah, let’s give a manager who has made us the worst we have ever been in premier league history a load of money (which we don’t have) to completely reshape our squad to a system we will use until November, before he is inevitably sacked and replace by someone who plays 4 at the back. Because that’s what is going to happen.
Are you watching the games? Have you seen us play? Have you seen the league table?
When ETH left we may have been in 13th, but we were only 6 points off a champions league place.
Now we are closer to relegation from the premier league. Fact.
When ETH left we may have been in 13th, but we were only 6 points off a champions league place.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's because it was October It's hard to be 20pts behind CL spots after 3 months of a season.
The way we were playing and heading the same outcome was coming. Don't be so naive.
Had we hired Ruben in summer and gave him the £200m to spend on his players we may have been fine and finished in top 8. We will never know that of course.
---
What should have happened is RVN should still be here, and Ruben should still be in Portugal, and we should be looking for a manager that plays a proper system and not this w@nk 3/5 at the back one.

Inter are in another CL final and play 3 CB's and wingbacks.
Sporting didn't play 5 at the back either under Amorim. It was far more attacking.
What's happened is you thought him coming and changing the formation would fix all our issues without spending any money. It never was going to.

I don’t have this luxury my friend.
If I did though, it is something I now would be exploring before giving this manager “ his own players.” I have heard this nonsense a few times.
All managers are going to go through times wherein they are going to have players who do not suit their system to a tee. It is high time we wake up and also realise it is going to take a couple of windows to get rid of most of the duds that we have. Are we stating we are happy for Amorim to register these results until that happens?
We should have gone for Poch after Jose, after Ole and after Ten Hag
Maybe now we’ll finally get him before Spurs do

Had we hired Ruben in summer and gave him the £200m to spend on his players we may have been fine and finished in top 8. We will never know that of course.

Inter are in another CL final and play 3 CB's and wingbacks.
Sporting didn't play 5 at the back either under Amorim. It was far more attacking.
What's happened is you thought him coming and changing the formation would fix all our issues without spending any money. It never was going to.

Sack him then and see what happens. It will continue the cycle and nothing will change greatly.
