Don, I remember there was a gang of you that wanted Ange out early on, the abuse that was given out about Ange and that he was a fraud and he was out of his depth etc etc.
I think some of the fans on this forum look a bit silly now. Hopefully some of you will reflect on your previous comments but I doubt it!
Our most successful manager in at least 17 years!
I said at the time we need to wait, that we can't keep sacking managers, when times get tough we need to back the manager and back the team.
Too many fans schit the bed and don't look at the bigger picture, the fact that we had a ridiculous amount of injuries this season and then it was fairly obvious that when they did start coming back that we were concentrating on the Europa League.
Levy didn't pull the trigger on the manager this time like he normally would have done and now we have a trophy and champion's league qualification at the end of it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1) I still think he’s a bit of a fraud, clearly out of his depth in the PL
2) The injury excuse is really f*cking tired now.
3) Levy couldn’t find a decent replacement, that’s he only reason he wasn’t fired.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he's now, as I expected, getting overrated by Spurs fans based on the Europa win. It was great to win a trophy but there needs to be a lot of context attached which many fans seem to want to push to one side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s worse on Facebook/Insta, it’s like a f*cking cult.
I’ll stomach him staying as long as I never have to hear him speak!
I always mute or turn off his interviews.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I still think he's arrogant and I'm unconvinced by him as a PL manager
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same, I just don’t buy into the persona at all, and ask him a question he doesn’t like and he’s so f*cking brittle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True and as much as he wants to tell us he's a winner and always wins, let's have it right, it could have gone the other way in the final. United were very poor and we were good defensively but there were a couple of scary moments. One of those goes in and it could be different. Ange doesn't have a handle on luck. Better managers than him with better winning records have tried and failed to win stuff. Sometimes things just go for you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's why Ange is a genius, he called it early saying he always wins things in his second season and he has delivered.
A bit like when I told you guys to stick with the manager months ago but you didn't listen and carried on with the never ending vitriol of Ange.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he was that much of a genius he could win the Europa without ditching the PL for the last part of the season and have us in 17th place.
No manager is guaranteed to win trophies no matter what they say but well done to him on winning it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or at least scrape the top 10.

He’s not a very good manager though, that’s the point.
I think him leaving by mutual consent after the parade is the best scenario
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that's your opinion,
He has won something virtually everywhere he has managed.

George Graham won a trophy and we binned him off, this really wouldn’t be much different.

George Graham won a league cup.
Ange got us into Europe in his first season and then won us a major tournament in his second, hardly comparable.
If you're comparing both managers though they both have a pedigree of winning trophies so that is not a bad shout.

Prime Poch lost to Gent
Jose lost to a bunch of part time farmers whose coach was in prison in the ECL.
Redknapp lost to a relegated Pompey in an FA Cup semi final
Conte lost at Middlesbro in the FA Cup
Poch lost at Colchester in the League Cup
Sometimes beating the lesser teams in front of you is easier said than done and Spurs recent history is littered with very disappointing exits from cups against teams we should be beating
When flying high under Poch we lost to a poor United side in an FA Cup semi final.
SO to talk down this achievement because on paper we should have won or other managers would have won is to ignore the unpredictable nature of football. It is not a game played on paper and every Spurs fan should know that through bitter experience.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Easy now Spurtle he is a genius but he not a miracle worker!
This is spurs we are talking about.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We're not asking for miracles. I mean winning the Europa this year wasn't as miraculous as people think. Give that opportunity to most of our previous managers and they'd also win it IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Prime Poch lost to Gent
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately Devonshire, common sense and logic is lost on this site mate.
I think some people set their stalls out early with their agenda and then cannot change or admit they were wrong to save face.

3 times CL ‘drop outs’ have went on to win the Europa league since its rebranding in 2009. I don’t accept any diminishing of the tournament now that it just so happens to be Tottenham that have won it.

Nobody’s diminishing it.
In fact the CL dropouts used to diminish it.

I've already been through things like this before. They lost to those teams but the league campaign for them was a lot different. Ange's top 4 challenge fell away in December, it's about the earliest one has collapsed before and yet he was allowed to be kept on when previous managers would be sacked for it. The sole focus could then be on this one competition. Other managers haven't had that luxury. There was the bonus as well of having the bottom 3 be so poor that relegation wasn't an issue when in other seasons it would have been a big concern. So didn't even need to worry about the league for that.
We also had to go to extra time with Tamworth and were very lucky not to go out to Coventry earlier in the League Cup. That might have even got him the sack. Ange is a lucky boy to have lasted the length of the season for all his talk of being a winner. Jose is seen as a winner too but obviously had less luck - sacked before a final. Conte had the Covid thing during the Europa Conference, which was totally winnable for us at the time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Easy now Spurtle he is a genius but he not a miracle worker!
This is spurs we are talking about.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We're not asking for miracles. I mean winning the Europa this year wasn't as miraculous as people think. Give that opportunity to most of our previous managers and they'd also win it IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately Devonshire, common sense and logic is lost on this site mate.
I think some people set their stalls out early with their agenda and then cannot change or admit they were wrong to save face.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We’re not wrong though. We just have a different opinion to the Ange cultists.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are wrong.
Why didnt Liverpool beat Newcastle in the cup final. Surely the Champions are by far the better team.
Why did the same Champions of England lose to Plymouth?
While Man Utd may be shiiiit, they are above us so why didnt they beat us.
Your logic is flawed and it is staggering that a lifetime supporting Spurs has not taught you this!

What's all this "lucky not to go out to" BS
You never reverse that logic. A Spurs loss is a loss and you never cut the team / manager etc any slack, whether we've been unlucky or its an undeserved result. A crippling injury list is not an excuse for some, they still expect performances, results, progress and whinge like hell when it isnt delivered. No quarter given.
But when we win with a bit of fortune, or a good cup draw (for once) then our achievement is immediately down played. When previous managers over 17 years have failed, you're happy to give reasoning why and let them off. But when we lose to the champions in a semi final with a make shift team, then its all guns blazing in the criticisim.
Some of you just act as critics, not fans and it is the continual negative take on all things that fans like you give which I protest against.

If injuries were solely to blame for our horrific Premier League form, how comes we did ok in a cup competition? The reality is, in the cup we played some second rate sides. When Ange came up against PL teams, he was found out. If he stays, he stays and I hope he proves me and his other doubters wrong. However, the jury is still out on his capabilities.

I'm just adding some context to it because in my opinion Ange is getting overrated based on what he's done. He's receiving a sort of messianic status by some sections.
I wish fans wouldn't keep clinging to the injury thing. Did it affect things? Yes it would have done but has this excuse not also been dispelled by the form we exhibited at the end of last season, the start of this season, the end of this season too, all with much stronger and fitter squads available having had players return from injury? 1 win in our last 11 having players back.
Look, I give him credit for winning the Europa. He proved me wrong and managed to change things to get good performances out of this group of players in order to win us the trophy. I admit other managers have ridden their luck too, not just Ange but they by comparison managed the league seasons a lot better therefore I don't rate this manager as highly, even if he did win the Europa. I've been saying for ages that the league is a better reflection of the job a manager has done.
I am a fan but I've found it hard not to be a critic given the form. I don't see why it's so surprising though, it's the worst form we've ever seen from the club so naturally you should expect criticism. A Europa trophy is great though it has papered over what was an awful league campaign.

Unfortunately Devonshire, common sense and logic is lost on this site mate.
I think some people set their stalls out early with their agenda and then cannot change or admit they were wrong to save face.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Easy now Spurtle he is a genius but he not a miracle worker!

I am not saying Ange is blameless but there are many factors

3 times CL ‘drop outs’ have went on to win the Europa league since its rebranding in 2009. I don’t accept any diminishing of the tournament now that it just so happens to be Tottenham that have won it.

Nobody’s diminishing it.
In fact the CL dropouts used to diminish it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Easy now Spurtle he is a genius but he not a miracle worker!
This is spurs we are talking about.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We're not asking for miracles. I mean winning the Europa this year wasn't as miraculous as people think. Give that opportunity to most of our previous managers and they'd also win it IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Prime Poch lost to Gent

----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's all this "lucky not to go out to" BS
