The amount of comments I’ve seen on Twitter saying Aaronson was garbage yesterday just proves people have an agenda and won’t budge from it in any circumstance

They don’t watch the game, they see what they want to see
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Watching Aaronson, I see what I don't want to see. How many times does he get into a shooting position and blasts it over the bar? How often does he hold on to the ball too long and miss the run of one of our strikers? And how often are posters going to remind me, 'but look how hard he works for the team?' So, Gelderd, what do you see that makes you think he deserves his place in the team?

People moan about Aaronson and they have a point in some regards, but Gnonto gets a free pass it seems. Neither got bags of goals or assists last season. Both technically good players but it seems a lot of our fans cant drop the anti American tag that Aaronson has. He's one of the hardest working players we've had since Alioski.

I raise the question on Aaronson too, Shaun. It has nothing to do with his nationality but rather his decision making. He's great in pressing but there has to be more to his game than that, surely?

Got to agree, Gnonto not done it for me yet. Loses the ball frequently. HOWEVER, there’s 20% of him that can do damage, and he’s proved that. Just that that % needs to be higher. Aaronson, as busy and annoying as a gnat, but with 5% effectiveness going forward, potentially limiting Bogles own effectiveness.
That cannot continue.

Yes, Infinteone, I totally agree with your post - Wolves are struggling and we should have got a result there but how many times have we slipped on that banana skin? What a relief that we did what we should have done and what a pleasant weekend it has become!

I don't think it's any surprise that there should have been such negativity from fans. The Arsenal and Wednesday results threatened catastrophe. There were serious questions for Farke and the players to answer, but everyone has stepped up for the Fulham and Wolves games and things are now looking very positive.

Perri will struggle to displace Darlow now. I fail to see how Bijol or Bornauw break into the team with Struijk and Rodon playing so well. Gudmundsson has been really excellent. Longstaff has also been excellent, and I wonder how much harder Tanaka will have to work to get a start. We know Farke likes to stick with a winning formula. Okafor is starting to fire and DCL is, happily, proving me wrong. At last, a proper no9 who can really do the business! Can't see Piroe getting much of a look in this season if DCL stays fit.

The only question I have relates to Aaronson, who really is a very poor decision maker. I also hope Bogle's okay - and I wonder whether Aaronson playing on the wing limits Bogle's freedom to attack?

But generally, there's so much to be positive about.

We took three points away from home from a relegation battle rival.

We broke the goal drought.

We came from behind.

We held on to a lead for 45+ minutes away from home.

Our no9 scored a proper striker's goal and our winger scored a proper winger's goal.

Our midfielder scored a beauty from a free kick.

The new players seem to be integrating well.

I'm sure there are other points to be identified but generally I'm feeling very reassured today that we have successfully negotiated a tricky start to the season. We'd have all accepted 7 points from the first five games as a decent start.

Bournemouth will be a stiffer test, of course, but I'm now confident that this squad and this manager will do the business.

Good times - let's enjoy them while we can!

Great summary 👍

Have a feeling Aaronson would not be in the team, if it wasn't for the American connection.

He is nowhere good enough for the PL

Mmmh stop talking nonsense. Gnonto got 10 goals and 10 assists last season as our replacement winger? You can't just ignore things to suit your narrative

Aaronson is our fourth choice winger. Maybe fifth choice on the left. Could we do better? Sure. Is he as bad as people make out? Absolutely not. He played well yesterday. He played well against Fulham. I'd like to see more of a creative output, but if he does the running that allows DCL to focus on being a hold-up man then that's fine.

He was behind James because he was vastly ineffective first half of the season. Gnonto bagged a few goals assists 2nd half of the season when James's form dipped, but multiple commentators including Paul Robinson said last season that Gnonto needed up his end product going into the second half of last season.

posted 1 week ago

People forget Willy is only 21.

His figures were excellent last season, and james kept him out for long periods, because his form was excellent too.

And on Arronson.

Weve had

Play a centre midfielder in his position
Play a right back instead of him, so he isnt in the team.
And now, he’s only in team because he is american.

Are people really saying, Farke doesnt pick the team now 🤦

posted 1 week ago

Gnonto got 9 goals and 6 assists in according to transfermarkt.com (42 appearances), Aaronson got 9 goals and 2 assists in 46 appearances. One has is own song and the other is constantly slated by half the fan base

I actually think we need a lot better in his position but he’s worthy of a place in the squad because of his work rate and pressing which suits how Farke plays

You can scoff at the term “he works hard” all you want but believe it or not you actually need players like this, especially in our position likely battling relegation

posted 6 days, 20 hours ago

Its starting to remind me of the noise around Bamford, three of four years ago, when plenty didnt rate him.

But he was vital in Biesla team, and we was better with him in the team.

Now Arronson, does have plenty of flaws, frustrates the hell of me at times, and I would love better.

But we could have better in every single position.

But dont underestimate his worth in the last two away games ( Fulham manager was full of praise for him btw)

The endless running, the cheap free kicks he constantly gets, the space he creates for others.

Alot of these, arent quantifiable in terms of stats, but when looking at the bigger picture, it helps the overall result.

Too many look for perfection, in footballers, its just isnt and never will be there.

Now you dont have to rate him, I honestly get it, but too many arent giving him a chance, cant or wont see the positives.

If we remain unbeaten against Bournemouth and Spurs with Aeronson starting I may be convinced he is indeed a necessary component of Farke's game plan that against Wolves arguably the worst side in the EPL he contributed to our vital away win with his usual manic clumsy falling over hurrying and confusing opposition defenders into thinking wtf is this hyper active kid on I'm facing then fair enough but I will be surprised if better quality opposition don't easily negate and exploit the area BA occupies and would prefer stronger options that I think Farke could utilise such as playing Bogle who can deliver a decent cross and play Justin at right full back.

I always find the matchday thread, an interesting read.

in the past week, ive read

Okafor is slow and garbage
Farke a defensive manager
Bogle should be winger
Arronson isnt a footballer
Rodon and Styruk should be dropped
Wolves not good because full of Foreign players

And thats during two very good away performances 😳😳😳
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually said Wolves were a team of foreign individuals.

All good players in their own right but for me they aren’t gelling as a team. They lack “heart” and it shows.

“Heart” was something that we had in abundance on Saturday.

Well then, we can agree on that. But why is he starting ahead of Ao? In the second half, we had no-one who could hold the ball in their half, and break up their momentum. A better team would have given us a few more problems.

superb result for us, so pleased, and somewhat relieved we actually scored.

couple of new lads getting goals too, wonderful game.

lets keep grounded tho, Wolves pretty poor and most sides going to beat them this year.

3 point in our next game and we're on a role.. c'mon Leeds.
