My top 3 albums of 2020 so far:
1 - R.A. The Rugged Man - All my heroes are dead
2 - Jay Electronica - A Written Testimony
3 - Run The Jewels - RTJ4
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Never really given a RTJ project a full listen, should probably start with their first.

Tiny Desk is amazing. My fav is the Anderson Paak one. But Wu and Roots was also nice. Mac gave a really cool one as well. Probably his best performance imo

This is old new now, but anyone listen to NPR tiny desk concert? I got into it last year after stumbling onto it via RTJ stuff.

Wu Tang and Big Daddy Kane on it are unbelievable.

Seen the Wu Tang one.

Tbf you would be okay starting with the latest. If you like political, activist, current affairs rap then you should enjoy this.

Finally gave a listen to RTJ4. Don't know if the big beats suits my palette atm given the fact that all I listen to are the simplistic yet cinematic beats of the NY underground. But that's their style though and they stay true to it. Walking in the snow is probably my fav track.

Saw the first ep last night, think it’s good. Glad they managed to get all of them involved, I’m sure they’re being paid handsomely

Interesting that they grew up in in two/three groups in different areas. Always assumed they all grew up on the same block.

GZA says about 2 things across 4 episodes though

The best bit (you haven't got there yet) is when they are discussing Once Upon A Time in Shaolin and they are making digs at Diggs a lot. Divine also gets a fair bit of negativity.

RZA is a little annoying. Kind of pretentious

posted on 3/7/20

Rae and U-God are both quite outspoken against RZA/Divine, but Rae comes across as more intelligent and thoughtful in his views whereas U-God is more just angry kid in his approach.

What’s the beef?

I know a lot of them haven’t always seen eye to eye.

Money.

Rae and Ghost don't get on with anybody though lol...even Method Man admitted that much.

posted on 3/7/20

Method man actually seems one of the most reasonable and likeable ones in it

posted on 3/7/20

Has the best flow in the group too.

posted on 3/7/20

Meth should actually be the superstar of the group in all honesty...yet even his discog doesn't much up to his talent.

posted on 3/7/20

Yeah he’s a worthy leader, but probably doesn’t have the mic skills to hold up an entire album by himself?

posted on 3/7/20

Rae’s beef with Biggy was funny. I like Meth a lot - especially away from the mic - but think Rae & Ghostface probably beat him on that front. Top 5 is easily (imo) in no particular order:
Rae
Ghostface
GZA
Meth
Inspectah

Meth and Ghost are probably the only ones who could have been big without RZA and the Wu.

That’s me caught up now, Divine is an idiot he needs pushed off that boat. GZA really has had like 2 lines all show.

Busy day in rap today. Che Noir, my fav female mc in rap dropped a new album titled As God Intended.
Black Thought dropped a new single to build up the release of his new project.
The Price of Tea in China has a deluxe version. One of the best albums of the year imo so intrigued to listen to some new songs
Conway and Method drop a new single. Conway releasing a new album. His previous release had arguably my favourite beat of the year. Bricks to Murals...wait for the second half of the song
9th Wonder, Terrace Martin and Kamasi Washington drop a jazz album for those interested.

A bit too much to consume lol
