@TOOR,

I use mine travelling up and down on the bus every day plus in bed in the evening to watch stuff.

I guess its just that bit more compact than a laptop yet with a bigger screen than a netbook.

Rogers, if you travel a lot tablets are brilliant.

Much handier than a laptop
===============================

A few hundred grams makes no difference to me.

I often build my own PCs anyhow and you can get parts that weigh much less than your bogstandard laptop.

My current laptop i am typing on weighs just above 1000g. The New Ipad weighs just under 700g and the 'new mega one' is rumoured to weigh close to 1000g.

"They dont even need it other than to show everyone "Look at me, look at me everyone, I've got an iPad!"."

That's what I always think! Why the hell do you want a tabelt for £300 when you can get a laptop for the same price which craps all over a tablet in every way possible.

Also iOS apps crashes more than the Android apps. However Android are decent enough to let you know about it when it crashes whereas iOS ones just close on you and nothing is said, therefore when you have both OS's it feels like Android crashes more than iOS.

That hasn't happened to me once. Guess I must be lucky.

my kids always change my ringtone

so I repeatedly find myself ringing and thinking "I wish that idiot would answer their phone, it's so annoying" only to find 5 people glaring at me on the train for being an annoying idiot

I travel with my laptop....

I suppose if you were in tight spaces it could be handier but I just can't see it. It's something that has driven me insane for a while. I actually shouted at my wife when she suggested buying a tablet. I went into a rant and at the end she said, ok, I'll use your laptop then. So I bought her a tablet. She used it about ten times then didn't want it.

@TRC,

Not so much the weight but size/dimensions of the devices. Try using a laptop on a bus...

Au contraire.

You can get several ultrabooks that weigh about a kilo (some less) - this is hardly news.

A tablet is just a bigger version of my smartphone.

Of course, you can fritter your money on it - to each their own. My missus has two ipads atm and i seldom use it. Personally, i just don't see the appeal.

iPads are just big iPhones you can't call off.

Besides, i don't use buses so why should i need a tablet?

Well ive got an S3, its great, easy to use, fast, runs smooth, has plenty of free apps, i can add my sd card, and i prefer the freedom it has over my last and only apple product, the 2007 version of ipod. I still used it up rill recently (until i got an app that instantly syncs all my itunes music to my sd card), but your music is too tied to apple.

Apple just seems to want to be that loner kid in the corner who doesnt want to share anything with anyone. Although apples products have always looked very sleek and polished
