It's a really stupid thing I know, but what I can't understand is if he's a United fan (or was) why didn't he wait until after tomorrow?
I know that sounds glib so I apologise but this is such a huge game. Couldn't he have waited till after?
I hope you see where I'm coming from because I don't mean to make it sound like I'm taking it lightly. Just never understand the timing for these things.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not trying to be funny here mate, but i really doubt even if he was a United fan that he would schedule the biggest and last 'moment' of his life until after the United game. I doubt he even cared anything for it. He has bigger issues to deal with.

I don't mean it to sound as bad as that
Just curious as a United fan why he didn't wait. Surely he would have wanted to know how the biggest match in years would turn out before he dies. I have had a few drinks so I apologise for spouting a weird question.
I just think that football had probably fallen quite far down his list of concerns.
He wouldn't give a fack would he? You think someone that is capable of what he did, who intended to take his own and that of others, really gives a shiiiiiit about the Europa facking league final? Come on.

Having read his profile, I very much doubt he was a season ticket holder of long standing who could hold any meaningful discusion on football.
Firstly, you have to be a special type of caaant to kill innocent kids enjoying a bloody concert.
Secondly, every time these things happen, I think to myself us and America started all this - we should've left Gaddafi and Saddam just as they were FFS.

I have to say, i'm still somewhat surprised that there hasn't been a football match that has been an actual 'successful' target yet. It's not to say that they haven't thought about doing this. We really need to tighten up security at matches also. And not have 'stewards' like the one that got sacked at the WHL.
-------------------
I said it on the other thread, they could easily fly a plane into the open stadium, what with the increasing desire to fly planes above stadiums with banners attached.
How's security going to prevent that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Obviously there are some methods that are a lot more difficult to prevent from happening such as planes flying into stadiums, but the least the ground security staff can do is make sure they do a very thorough check on all visitors entering any stadium.
Maybe in the next stage, they will try to come up with other methods in regards to suicide planes hitting stadiums - i don't know how they'd go about it but things like this will also need to be analysed.

Yeah I highly doubt some steward doing a slightly more intensive frisk is going to foil someone hell bent on blowing themselves and others up.
My fear is they do it at a Primary school at 3:15pm when all the little kids are being let out but that's probably me being biased due to having kids aged 7 and 9.
Too many easy targets and way too many without any protection whatsoever.

Must have thought they were going to lose.
If you think about it there's loads of ways terrorists can cause chaos. I get a packed train into London every day. No security and anyone could just walk onto a train and blow it up.
We just have to hope when the time comes when somebody does that you just aren't on that train or at that concert etc
Indeed it did. Acts of terrorism did occur a lot of times prior to 9/11. Since the death of Saddam/ Gaddafi, this thing has gone out of control in my opinion.
If you want it to be pretty much everywhere is dangerous if you want to cause chaos.
I was putting petrol in the car the other day and there must have been around 20 other cars on the forecourt. Had I, or anyone else wanted to, little could have been done to stop someone spraying petrol about and setting fire to it. I'm surprised I've not heard about that happening really.

It'll always be an 'easy' target for terrorists to target when there is a large crowd gathering. But the security is security and it's their job to make sure that people are safe in the vicinity. I've never said that just because there should be a more thorough security check that it would 100% wipe out any threats, because there will always be those nut cases out there that will try to find another alternative method of attack. But by having security doing a better job it will somewhat reduce the risk. All while trying to find other forms of securing the place.
To be honest, the point when it's at the front door security, it's too late as if it gets to that, then the intelligence services have missed it. The amount they already stop is worryingly good (the amount is worrying, the fact they stop them is good!). The focus will be more on how this one didn't get picked up more than anything that the MEN or any other venue could or should do more over and above the usual safety checks.

If a suicide bomber slips through the net of the intelligence services then increased security isn't going to achieve much. As sad as that is to say.

I know it's a slippery slope but in an ideal world the Muslim community would 'shop' the people who are likely to bring shame to the religion.
Perhaps the police are already working with local communities to build trust and infiltrate cells and prevention is better than cure in these instances - i.e. Catch the people before they strike
I read today that something like over 350 people who went to fight for ISIS have returned to the Uk. Apparently it takes 12 security service people per person they're watching to keep tabs on them 24/7 so a lot of manpower is needed
