I know fans say they’d prefer fifth place and an FA cup over 4th and nothing which I understand but to the clubs getting top 4 and being able to do it consistently is a massive plus point

The one concern i have with Poch is, how would he handle under intense pressure at a fishbowl club like United.
Hypothetical scenario question...
How would Poch handle this - United 2/3 points ahead of their nearest competitors at the top of the league and there is 4 games to go?
He's been used to chasing the leading pack all this time. I don't want to get into quarrels about him falling short, just highlighting a point.
-----
A fair point. Ole understands the pressure associated with United and has delivered on the biggest stage, albeit as a player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes Ole does, even if it was experienced as a player.
But Ole was always one of the smart players that took notice of what the opposition did.
-------
SAF said that he was so dangerous off the bench becuae he watched every second of the game and studied the opposition. He knew where the space would be and how to hurt the opposition once he got on the pitch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I loved finding that out about him. It shows the early stages of the managerial foundations about him.
And to learn from the master, tops it all.
-------
Sure I read the other day that he started taking notes on SAF at the age of about 31 and how he managed certain situations.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah it was around the time he got injured. Apparently he'd use his time wisely and take notes of interest. I think some of the players from that time mentioned about Ole and his awareness and how they believed he would be ideal for management in the future.
People need to wake up to the idea that getting top 4 is pretty much a trophy now

One of the dumbest things you’ve ever said so well done
-----
So would you take Redknapp as our manager? Because as it stands he has progressed Spurs and achieved about as much as Harry did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you really believe that then you’re utterly insane
-----
What has he done that is so much bether than what Harry did? Sure he has maintained slightly higher positions, but he had a better starting point than Harry. And Harry managed a CL quarter final too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ask a single Spurs fan who they think was the better manager and you’d be shocked to find none of them rate Redknapp higher.
------
No answer to the question then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that in itself is damning evidence to how good Poch is if not a single Spurs fan would swap him for Redknapp
As for their records being similar - that’s mental
Poch has taken them out of two consecutive tough CL groups - going to the Bernebeu and the Nou Camp unbeaten
He’s got Spurs having a world class away record
He’s gotten them beating all the big sides. Battered United and Chelsea this season without spending a single penny
Promoted youth, turned Kane into the best striker in the world and made players like Alli, Son, Eriksen and co into top players
Robb, what if you keep getting top 4 and then getting knocked out in the group stages/last 16 every season?

That is the holy grail of club football.
However, if you're constantly getting top 4 which means you are a good consistent team in the league but then keep failing in Europe, as opposed to a team who once or twice finishes 5th and wins a cup or two in that time frame and then has an easier run (on paper) in the Europa and could possibly win it.
When you go back to the honours list, top 4 finishes will always be invalid.
Like i've said about Spurs and Liverpool (prior to Liverpool's season now) they have always been the 'taking part that counts' clubs. Yes, they are consistent in getting in high finishes, but have nothing to show for it at the end of the day.

Says the guy who rated LVG
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I never pushed or advocated for lvg to get the job and understood why he was sacked but your solution for the football he served up was hoofball/ park the busourhino.
Add in your defense of the obviously out of his depth moyes and it's clear you've no idea what makes utd tick
Not too worry it would appear you are in good company with Ed...

People need to wake up to the idea that getting top 4 is pretty much a trophy now
I know fans say they’d prefer fifth place and an FA cup over 4th and nothing which I understand but to the clubs getting top 4 and being able to do it consistently is a massive plus point
--------
I think that the extra money from the TV deals actually means that the top 4 means less than it once did, not the other way round. The revenue from the CL just isn't as important as it once was.

😹
Well done for pulling that yarn out of your ass

Weak reply. You know its the truth.

The CL stuff is irrelevant?
That is the holy grail of club football.
————
More in the crux of the debate. The true achievement is qualifying for the CL ahead of two clubs who miss out and who often outspend them

Sigh, must be tough living in such a one dimensional world

I will take that as you admitting you were being a nobb then.

How is it the truth? We just sacked two managers for not making the CL

No, because you seem to think winning a trophy is always a better achievement than finishing in the top 4

Until he does anything he has done with Spurs will be of little consequence
——————
------
Yes, he's progressed them about as much as Harry did from the starting point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What starting point?
-----
Where spurs were as a team when they took over as manager.
