This is the sort of thing that bugs me. He has almost doubled Costa's wages & posted them as fact & gawd knows what he has done with Falcao's.
£280k x 37 weeks = £10.36m
He came up with £21m, that's more than double
Falcao was the best, followed by Balotelli then Remy, Arsenal have overpaid for average Welbeck.

This is where the loan actually helps United. An owned player is paid for the full year, a "season long" loan is paid until the end of the season when his loan ends.

As I said earlier, depending on how it goes, that might not be a bad idea.
If there is a younger CF available that is also worth £50m that may be a better option, especially if we are back in CL

If he only had 2 more years at his peak, with no real sell on value, £50m is a huge fee, hence why it might not be a bad thing to have a 1 year loan.

Indeed (if it's a true figure) but it does throw all of your comparisons out of the window. If you believe everything in the papers, we pay Rooney £15.6m a year (as a comparison)
I still think it is the best option given his age & knee. If it works well we buy him, if not we look elsewhere, if he helps to get us top 4 in the meantime, it's worth every penny.

Rooney can be sold for probably £40M in January or next year if Man U want it to happen, they will make shed loads out of him.
Come June/July 2015 you will not make a penny out of Falcao or spend more money to buy him.
With Costa (again to you Chelsea fans I apologies, if I did add him in the thread he would had come close to Welbeck..........) They will get their return in what they pay and bought him for. If they sell in 2 years he is still going to be worth as much money as he is now if not more. They will recuperate some money from the deal......
Man U could lose £17M in one year on this deal without anything in return......
I think we should wait until the season has concluded. Anyone of those could have a brilliant season and anyone of then could turn out to be a disasterous signing.
Will Remy be a good 2nd choice striker? Is Falcao still the same player he was before his injury? Will Balotelli be able to keep his head straight? Will Welbeck be any good as a lone striker? So many questions.

I think you underestimate how much each league place is worth, Falcao should make a big difference to where we finish. If it doesn't work out, I'd rather be "£17m" out of pocket than £50m (+ a years wages) if we bought him & he has a poor season, we would not get £50m back for him.
It's swings & roundabouts, until May, none of us really know.
"Assuming we go on £280 PW for 9 months is £21M plus £6M initial loan fee, thats £27M for 1 year only."
Can you show your workings please? £21,000,000 divided by £280,000 p/w equates to 75 weeks
And, we have established, via the BBC, that the wage is £265k meaning that the actual total loan value is £15,540,000.
"Welbeck was £16M and again £100K a week? thats £21M for his 4 years which again is less then the 1 year Man U have taken Falcao for."
Mate, your maths is atrocious !!!
Welbeck on £100k p/w x 52 weeks = £5,200,000 p/a x 4 years = £20,800,000 plus purchase price £16,000,000 = £36,800,000
