Believe it or not, Texas is slowly starting to turn back into a liberal state. You can use the poor candidates argument here but Hillary has won in all 4 major cities in Texas in November (Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio). Don't think we are as right wing as people think.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

All cities, being cosmopolitan, tend to vote for more liberal governements. It's outside the cities where the people are more to the right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought the same way too but the Republicans have lost 3 straight after dominating the last 5 elections in Texas Metro

FFS Is Rlf Harris opening a creche?
I think he got a job with Fox News, Quelle surprise

Bout ye Zach.

Hear you got stick off Bluenoses for a yes badge, and went to the protest in Glasgow last night...fair play, although I am ultra brexit, unionist and populist.

I have started watching Fox news, nae shock there, and some of their stuff is interesting,,a a useful counterbalance to liberal left CNN, BBC, sky, channel four etc.Remember, these left leaning outlets, like the popstars and establishment, missed the brexit, Trump, unionist Scot and European populist wave!

Writing off tens of millions of people as deplorable does what for Corbyn, Hilary or Brussels?

That could be down to the changing demographs of those areas. Mexican and African Americans will usually vote Democrat for varying reasons.

I think the results in a lot of votes of late is the death knell for pollsters. They cannot work out how to gauge things
Think I'll invent a polling app
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spooky......pollsters should talk to the working class and populists, rather than uni students, Madonna, Geldoff, Hilary , Merkel, or Corbyn, IMO.For starters.

How simple do you have to be not to know the answers to all those questions?
God knows.

πŸ‘πŸ‘most of it was good fun mate they were calling me Nicola and stuff
Just the one real Galloot, he was put in his rse in the loudenI pick my spots
I just think Trump is odious no beef with folk voting for what they believe will enhance their lives I just think he's sold them a pup
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Louden, ffs ya mad bassa.I was it in there many times, and once wi Tims on my stag....last time there, I won the raffle, and boys were snorting openly in the bogs...good old kinning park Derry😈

The whole yes v no, brexit v leave and Trump v Hilary danger nasty, so us good guys have to keep it civil.
Trumps biographer says he is manic, but not depressive, and Trump just thrives on chaos, confrontation etc, unlike most of us
I disagree with him on climate change, and this ban was clumsy, ugly and rushed, but we should not cut our noses off to spite our face by then stopping his state visit.
Mugabe got a welcome here, ffs, as do Chinese and Saudi leaders, so where were the mass protests for them?...not having a go at you bud.
May got it t in the neck in Turkey, re, Trump, but civil rights and press/media freedom is being crushed there, and as a papers man, could you imagine that here going unchallenged?
Too much hypocrisy these days.

There is now quite a body of research in evolutionary biology that proves speciation. Part of my research is genetics and differences between species for germ cell transplantation so I've looked a lot at phylogenetics and species divergence. Certain genes mutate at known rates such as mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I. I have for the genus of fish I work with and many others have sequenced the isolated sequences of these genes from a whole range of animals and can quantify the timing of species divergence using tools like molecular clocks by comparing the gene sequence homology. Not always possible, but fossil records have been used to support such findings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds like you know what your talking about mate.

What are the chances we didn't evolve from another species. Is it credible or possible in your opinion that we didn't?

Not up to date with this at the moment.

Whether the theory of evolution is true or not, does not denounce or encourage the idea of a creator. Sure, it can render Adam and Eve untrue, but not God. Just the same as we (a creator) can plant a seed and water it to grow into a flower, are not the creator of the flower, but with our interaction the flower would not exist.

If we are just chemical elements, which are resigned to the laws of chemistry, how did consciousness come about? And what is the purpose of thought? Why do we have a will to survive? What is emotion? What are the chemical formulae for such things? Can they be replicated?

While I'm off on one, what the hell is space? What is after space?

Is heaven (or hell) reallllllly busy? How does all the admin work? Can you appeal? What if my heaven is spending time with X, but that is X's version of hell?

If God designed everything in 6 days (pretty good going) what has he/she been doing since? Are they bored?

All the beautiful memories we have just disappear when we die, that is so sad.

Why is there no humour in the religious books?

What is the reasoning behind God giving us life or evolution giving us life? Is it a cruel joke? Is it a beautiful joke? Are we an accident? Are we intentional?

I'm off to lay in a dark room for a while.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

My point was some athiests take theory as fact and use that to denounce religion.

By the way Muslims don't subscribe to the God made the earth/universe in 6 days. We don't believe we were created in th image of God either and we don't definitely don't think he had a son, the story around Noah was a localised flood.

A lot of people mix Christian beliefs with Islamic beliefs not knowing the difference.

The answers you seek for the rest of the question are answered with a spiritual journey! It wasn't easy for me figuring that out it took years of research and listening to the stories of converts who I interviewed for my old job in television.

I spoke to over 60+ plus converts not including scholars.

Do some research mate.

On thing we share is a spiritual side to our lives and identity, kung fu.
I went through the born again christian phase and am still a believer, but try not to be a bigot, saying those not born again are going to hell......my catholic wife and friends, colleagues, for example.

I try to be a follower of Jesus and live a good life, but have often backslid...new word, or sinned.

We all just muddle along, but if we loved those around us as God said, the world would be a nicer place, and I would've a better man.

Peace, and come on Chelsea tonight, God willingπŸ˜€

zero. There is zero chance we didn't evolve from one of the species in the ape family. It was almost certainly chimps.

Please don't see this post of mine as trying to undermine your previous one about theoretical probability of a creator. As I said after in response to Just Shoot's profound post, some of the evolution I see make's me believe more in the likelihood of a creator.

There's this weird orchid only found in this tiny region in far south West Australia that has evolved a flower to look so similar to the female of a rare species of wasp, so much so, that male wasps will mistakenly hump this flower which blooms in mating season and every other "female" flower that these males get pollen on the tufts of hairs on their head as they continue on their promiscuous ways. These males have inadvertently cross pollinated the entire plant species each year. This must have been going on for tens of millions of years, all in quiet isolation with an incredibly small chance of survival. This dependence on another species for the orchid's entire population's survival is evolutionarily speaking like playing russian roulette with a fully loaded gun. These species serve no other purpose in the ecosystem they are found so are entirely superfluous to needs, which usually results in extinction.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The hammer orchid?

Have tbh I used to get a lot of these examples, from fruit flies to colour changing moths. But I found the explanations quite simple when studying the detail

This particular flower in a particular place attracting a particular wasp is not for me proof of evolution of species into something different in the way humans are supposed to have evolved.

Sure we have people taller or fatter but that is all about environment and diet etc and doesn't change the basics
