I see some Afghan refugees are asking to go back to Afghanistan. Being ruled by the Taliban is better than Britain.

Dunno whether to laugh or cry. 🤣😭🤣
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which part of London were they fleeing from...Newham?

Have they not suffered enough.

I don't believe the posters on here are blindly pro-EU, being part of and changing from within would have, I imagine, be the preferred option.
I appreciate that it suits the anti-bloc narrative, the Brexit was a great idea look at them now brigade, to insinuate that the EU is on the brink of collapse when it patently isn't.
No European thinks "look how well Brexit is working out for the Brits, let's do that. "
----------------------------------------------------------------------
it promotes the tribal mentality they claim they do not buy into as well
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That tribal mentality is seen against leave voters, unionists, so called conservatives and the working class who dare to vote differently, also.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're fooling nobody but yourself when you claim the working class voted for Brexit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not saying all did, but there was a snobbish remain tribalism in tory and labour and lib dem camps against "plebs for brexit" lets say.As ging said, those with nowt to lose went for brexit, ofyen with two fingers up to tories, Geldoff, Obama, Thornberry et al

This broke the old bonds between labour and millions of working people too...a final straw for many....but if you are not a working class leaver, you wil never get it.

Tony Parsons, of Labour, Daily Mirror etc put this well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are saying all did by dint of the fact you keep saying "the working class" as if en mass when it's just such a stupid analysis when the vote was near enough 50/50 to claim a majority of working class people voted for Leave.
I'm a working class Remainer, tell me what I'm not getting about the people in my circles?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you get the working class leave voter now?

I am not saying the whole working class backed brexit at all..it may be 50% as you say, but there were snobs and haters in remain and on social media who called these working class leavers, deplorable, and when those attacking tje " gammon" and thick racist leavers were from labour, that lost labour more working class voters, on top of the corbyn chill factor and on going labour- working class discinnect.

This is not just an opinion.

Working class voters tell us all the time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not hard to understand the working class anger they've been suffering wage stagnation for a decade, strangely the same amount of time the Tory party has been in charge... coincidence?

You only need to hear what was said in Hartlepool by election, all our services have been cut, our hospital moved, court closed, jail closed. All because of the cuts the Tory party forced upon the region but somehow the people blame Labour? could it be a lot of people aren't seeing or being told the whole picture?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mass immigration and big business using this, hit the working classes, with cheap foreign labour, undercutting wages and conditions, and new competiition for all aspects of life from jobs to homes to schools, while community cohesion was broken as towns and cities changed rapidly....on top of that, being shafted by tory govts and mocked by labour, millions of working class brits, white, black and asian, voted for brexit.

At the same time, immigration helped sections of the economy and we need it, but people wanted limits and control, as they do worldwide on migration and migrant workers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lazy to blame immigration, wage stagnation started in the 80s with the destruction of the unions.

People just don't want to accept the blame for electing parties against their own interests.

People are lazy and i am giving opinion from what lazy lads and lassies say.

Same lazy folk who often vote labour too mind.

And if you think brexit, immigration et al are just about money, then you do not get it, which is fine and your perogative.

For me, political parties are also only part of the equation, and even on economics, bigger players move and shake us around.

Every few years we are allowed to tick a ballot box, but the song remains much the same, regardless of party ribbon in govt.

That is shocking.

The wage gap between boss and worker is disgusting and everything gets more expensive, as wages stagnate.

On the plus side, Scotland got a late winner and we live in western europe luxury and safety, compared to most poor sods in the world.

Could do better.

And of course, nobody will criticise them and teachers will vote tory.

There are hateful tribal fools in politics on all sides today, especially to the right and left of the spectrum, but we appear surprised?

We also contribute to the malaise, with our stupid put downs, snide comments and digging in.

And am guilty as charged, but trying, lol

On here people have a few times in recent weeks referred to the EU as just another attempt at German expansionism.

But it seems to me like our government act more like pre ww1/2 German than any other European state...

Ermm.. Insulate Britain Liam says he doesn't care about insulation on talk radio. 🤷‍♂️

Sounds to me like he's being flippant.

I've tried to find the full interview but all I find is a load of right wing publications who stop the interview at that point.

Sounds more to me like he's just saying what they want to hear, I'd like to see the whole interview tbh

You could be right. Still, I think IB need someone with a bit more media nous than Liam.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree completely.

And as I suspected, it's just a headline with no substance, more of the mass media attack on the protests and their aim.

He's being deliberately flippant because the two interviews spend 15 minutes being rude to him, discussing subjects (such as the ww2 comments, again out of context) that they had agreed NOT to discuss, undermining the argument by talking about one of the members of IU not having a job for 20 years, and building up straw-man arguments by asking him how much the plans will cost and how they will pay for it.

The presumably fairly wealthy presenter also has the gall to compare his own home to that of working class Liam, who by his own admission on the interview (and as I was posting following the gmb interview) can't afford to Insulate his home, much less buy a nice new build and stick an insulated extension on like the presenter.

The fact it makes him a "hypocrite" is laughable, it's just showing how inequality is exacerbating the situation and landing tens of millions in fuel poverty

Liam is a shiiiiiitty PR person I agree, but it was also a fackin stupid, economically illiterate, hypocritical, culturally blind, hatchet job interview, led by a man hopelessly out of touch with the working class.

A bloke actually calls in and says as much when the interview ends, pointing out how ridiculous it is, to expect him to know how much it's going to cost to insulate all the different types of home we have the length and breadth of the UK, built at different times, with different levels of insulation/glazing.

And all these right wing rags are running with is the absurdity that he doesn't care and they get away with it because people just re-share their sharticles, because the headlines confirm their biases.

I agree the hypocrite thing is laughable, he just handled it in the wrong way. IB is about getting the govt to insulate, so all he needed to say was, "Yes, my home is wasting energy and it's damaging our environment. It's why I want the govt to help me, us, save the planet."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly right. To be fair he does try to keep it on track with regards to the impact that it will have, but the presenters aren't having any of that.

Don't reckon anyone in that interview is particularly good at their jobs

*Father in law update*

Yesterday he moaned saying he couldn't believe the current state of the country. He then moaned that he can't emigrate because he would need a visa to move to Spain (he previously looked into this and didn't realise you need a visa now despite me telling him).

He voted Brexit and Tory.

In other news... the trans weightlifter from NZ has won a woman of the year award from a university. The first trans to win in its 113 year history...

If anyone wants proof that women are rubbish, just look at how easy it is to chop your nuts off and beat all the women in the country for your 'courage'.

I mean, Ron Swanson win woman of the year in Parks and Rec…
