🚨 | NEW: Dominic Raab will announce plans for a British bill of rights tomorrow that will enable the deportation of more foreign criminals and illegal migrants

Via @thetimes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good. Free up some space for legal immigrants and more desirables.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why anyone would trust Raab to write a Christmas card never mind an unnecessary bill of rights is beyond me.
He's thick as mince.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The bill (if it passes) removes the right for an offender to challenge deportation. So essentially cases would be blocked from even making it to court. Many people will therefore lose their basic rights to a fair trial.

The Government are also putting forward the argument that UK courts should have the final say, (rather than ECHR). However the vast majority of cases (since the HRA came into force) claims have been dealt by British courts.

There was a Tory MP on BBC's daily politics last week claiming (without rebuke) that now we are out of the EU we no longer have to consider the views of the ECHR, despite the ECHR convention having absolutely nothing to do with the EU.

"The Law Society, which represents solicitors in England and Wales, urged the government to make sure that any reforms of the HRA were backed by evidence, not driven by political rhetoric."

"Its president, I. Stephanie Boyce, said: "The powers government purports to introduce for the most part already exist. British judges deliver British justice based on British laws."

"UK courts do not, as government suggests, blindly follow case law from the European Court of Human Rights."

How did we do things before 1998? Were our judges immorally and unjustly removing people?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They were, old school tie pomposities sending the Guildford 4/Birmingham to prison for life on the flimsiest of evidence with the words that they'd have got the death sentence if it was available, fk the judge's common sense, they have one job, abide by the law of the land.

Sounds simple

Star's injuries were consistent with her being punched, stamped on, or kicked in the stomach.

She also had fractures to the shin and the skull that predated the death, and her body was covered with widespread, non-accidental bruising consistent with her being prodded, pinched or punched.

Yeah mate. Apparently one of them has an IQ of 70 and was easily led by the other. I’m sorry but even Forrest Gump knew better than that and as for the other person….I hope she has an awful life in prison although I suspect it will be a lot better life than she deserves.

To abuse/torture and then murder your own child is something I struggle to fathom. How any parent could do that to their defenceless child is beyond comprehension.

An easy thing to criticise or oppose tbf

posted on 14/12/21

Enforcing vaccinations on health and care staff is an awful idea, we already don't have enough staff and can't afford to lose anymore (though the threat may help get some of the undecided to vaccinate)

But the unvaccinated can still get a covid pass with a negative test, ridiculous to oppose that imo and stupid for the brother of Piers Corbyn to stand in parliament and oppose

We really are in a "new normal" when you're backing Corbyn up and I'm criticising him 😂

Kinda true but seeing as you don't need a vaccine to get one is the reason Boris went through with it

----------------------------------------------------------------------
They don't believe in showing vaccine passport to do everyday things... but having a negative test as an alternative prob swayed a lot of MPs to vote with the government

posted on 14/12/21

If the govt removes the negative test in the future.... then I see a leadership challenge on the cards

Were they just trying to bring down Boris or do they not trust him anymore?
