Discussing "should MP's celebrate Brexit more? on BBC Politics.
In conclusion Jo Coburn stated that people will never agree in regard to the £350m a week for the NHS (as a Brexit benefit) as if it was debatable
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're right it is not debatable - we did give £350m a week.
You can argue this was offset by various benefits and rebates and the net figures was lower.
And even that it was a price worth paying and that Brexit will cost more.
It's still technically true though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the same way a market trader pays £350 a week to the land owner to set up their stall. And their stall generates a weekly profit of £5,000.
Upping sticks and leaving the market you save £350 a week. But at the same time also lose the bulk of sales revenues rendering your stall considerably less profitable.
The £350m pledge was (falsely) claimed to be a cost benefit when in fact it never was, or could be.

You can see the #Omicron hit to UK restaurants from the @OpenTable booking data.
Before the news of the variant on 26 November bookings were running at around 15% up on the same period in 2019 (pre-pandemic)
In the past three weeks they've slumped to roughly the same level

I see Boris is accusing the opposition of 'playing politics' again.
Always his go to line at PMQs when his inadequacies are revealed.
He's got no shame
Accuses others of playing politics and then throws childish insults about.
The worst possible PM at the worst possible time
In fairness, he understands the level of debate these days. Accuse others of something you're doing yourself, and then moan about "playing the man not the ball" when they point it out. He wouldn't be out of place on here, tbh. This is where we are. It's tiresome.

I saw in the news there's a suggestion/consultations to increase the rate at which mortgages can be borrowed, upping it from 3.5x to 4.5x your annual salary
Exactly as happened prior to 2008, trying to prop the market up with unaffordable mortgages...

Not likely at all, the LTV on loans is a lot higher than what was being permitted in 06/07
5x salary is already possible and has been throughout
None of these products are generally going to be people who cannot afford them.
It was the home owner fantasy pushed in the early noughties that led to the ridiculous mortgage products in the US mostly but also in the UK of self-certing, 95% LTV, 100% LTV and worse. All this to people who didn’t have the income to support it.
It’s entirely different these days
There’s been around 1.5m transactions this year when it’s normally around 1-1.1m per annum.
The more pertinent loan scandal of today is student loans
Have no idea why anyone would complain about developers building houses in this country….
Over 17,000 houses built this year

Holy fek. I just checked and in Canada it's 6X annual income.
Printing money for fun comment is hardly praising them is it?
Also a 16% pre-tax profit is hardly printing money for fun whilst providing a mammoth amount of jobs who’d halal generate further tax revenues, provides thousands of families with income and thousands of families every year with accommodation.
“Printing money for fun” is just daft anti-capitalist sentiment hating on any notion of a company turning a profit.
