I saw in the news there's a suggestion/consultations to increase the rate at which mortgages can be borrowed, upping it from 3.5x to 4.5x your annual salary
Exactly as happened prior to 2008, trying to prop the market up with unaffordable mortgages...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do they think the market needs propping up in such a way?
Barratts just reported a *profit* of £810m for the year. Persimmon are just off the back of posting £480m profit on the first six months of the year.
The big developers are absolutely printing money for fun.

In this case I think it's to inflate the bubble

Who's complaining about houses being built?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair I'm pretty fed up of them building on Greenfield sites..
Just announced some affordable homes being built round here on a Greenfield site, 95 "affordable" homes with tiny/barely any garden, sandwiched between a perfect teifecta of a bio digester, a sewage treatment works and the a36 bypass.
Appreciate most (if not all) are sick to death of this but thought I'd share Lord Frost's/HMRC's statement today in regard to the continuation of the UKs (Ireland to GB) trade border (much like Calais/Dover there still isn't one). And won't be for some time.
Goods arriving into GB from Ireland from 1st January 2022 will still not be subject to *any* import controls.
Happy Christmas smugglers!
If you have illegal/illicit goods/commodities you can't shift, dump them into GB

🚨 | NEW: Sadiq Khan is planning a London council tax rise amid the TfL funding crisis
Via @guardian
BBC:
‘The government has been urged by its official immigration advisers to make it easier for foreign care workers to come to the UK.
The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) said the sector was facing "severe and increasing" problems with hiring and retaining staff after Brexit…
Since the UK left the EU, social care workers from EU countries are no longer automatically eligible to work in the UK and instead have to apply for a visa.
The committee said all social care workers should be able to apply under the UK's "shortage occupation list", meaning they need fewer points and a lower salary to meet the criteria…
Mike Padgham, chairman of the Independent Care Group, also said a relaxation of immigration rules "can't come soon enough".
He added that the sector was already "on its knees" trying to cope with self-isolation caused by the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid.’
In March, the Home Office refused to add any single role in the profession beyond senior care worker to the Shortage Occupation List. Staff in non-senior roles (where the shortages are most severe) don’t score enough points to qualify under the government’s points based visa scheme and are also ineligible to apply to the special visa scheme for health and social care workers.
The Home Office has instead called on employers to try to find new recruits among those already in the country.
Omicron looks like a super spreading bassa, so get boosted like I did today dudes and stay safe and lucky.
Peace out.

The longer Boris holds on the longer liars who pretend to be libertarians are excluded from our politics
Win win
I'm not sure I'd even heard of libertarians before the whole Trump election fiasco. I certainly didn't know very much about them, or what they stood for. Now I think they're amongst the very worst people in the world.
