If you looked at a menu and opted for a pie, then the waiter came over and said that it's a poo filled pie or the option of a pie with no filling. You'd still go with that because you chose a pie. You were told it was delicious. That's why you chose it. Now have your pie and eat it.

"The Country voted to leave."

#simplism

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The majority voted to leave

#desperatepedant
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What's pedantic about what I said?

What you're saying is overly simplistic. WE VOTED TO LEAVE is not enough detail I'm afraid.

You had a deal and the people who voted for Brexit didn't want it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly you are being pedantic. Democracy when determined on a majority basis is pretty black and white. 10000 constituents vote for blue 9999 vote for red, blue wins and gets his seat in parliament! Leave won, we therefore leave. ( i voted remain BTW).

Secondly, "we" had a deal and it was a damn-sight more than the Brexiteers that voted it down and that was not on the basis that they didnt want to fulfil the will of the people, it was that they didnt like the details of how. That is what the debate should be. HOW not IF. And that is clearly why Boris acted the way he did because he knew there were too many that would obstruct any means of HOW. (I'm not condoning it, but at least it was decisive action)

If you are stupid enough to not ask what is in the pie then you're an idiot.

If you bothered to ask and they said it could be anything from steak to shiiiit, you'd take a view and decide accordingly, aware of the potential range of outcomes.

A big majority of MP's voted to trigger article 50 so it's a moot point about it being advisory or not

I don't think you understand what 'pedantic' means - there's nothing pedantic about me saying you're being simplistic.

Leave doesn't mean leave.

What was voted for when people selected 'leave' is a myriad of options that no one can agree on.

There's your problem.

Where does it say in law that Brexit must be implemented by triggering article 50?

it's part of article 50, we automatically leave after two years deal or no deal. Hence why parliament have to keep forcing extentions to prevent us leaving.

Your dietary requirements would also not be best served demanding a meat pie in a vegan restaurant.

And then threating the owners that you’ll just walk out without buying a pie because they can’t sell you a meat pie.

Parliament making measures to stop no deal is not Parliament trying to overturn the referendum result. It amazes me that people with access to the internet cannot see this.

"Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?

Remain a member of the European Union
Leave the European Union"

That is the question and the options.

So how does leave not mean leave when given a yes or no question?

Yes, and stating that is the question is simplism.

Because it isn't as simple as that.

'Leave' has many different guises. Shouting 'WE VOTED TO LEAVE' ignores the complexities involved.
