Prem League will NOT be completed

One solution would be to null and void this season as a write off and then not allow any team to buy or sell any of their players, so they have to start a new season with the players they have right now

They'd also have to not play any players bought in January.

Until the following January, that is.

Sorry mate, haven’t read through all 100+ comments

I know it is, but it's the only way it makes that particular suggestion fair.

A marathon runner has to cross the line to win the race, regardless of how far they are ahead in the race.

Otherwise the race is still on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tell that to those who didn’t get to cross the line because of something like the Boston bombing going on.

Point being is that nobody was prepared or able to foresee something like this happening. But Liverpool should not be penalized because of a pandemic.

The other clubs had their chances, and failed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then that race was void, and nobody should have 'won' that race

But as life is more important than sports, sporting events should be put on hold until if and when it is next possible to resume again.

Don't just expect the FA to bow down to your demands just because you 'deserve' to be champions.

Mathematically, you haven't won yet.

A situation like this could open up a can of worms for future incidents - for example public safety at stadiums being violated by constant terrorism fears. If the league gets postponed again - it's going to cause another headache for the premature 'deserved' title winner.

Yeah, resuming the season when things have settled down is the only solution that makes proper sense.

Agree

It would be a travesty for Liverpool not to be given the title, but try must be allowed to fulfil those games in order to get their hands on it

They could engrave the PL trophy this season with "2020 Liverpool FC Deserved Winners"

Would that really make you feel good?

posted on 13/3/20

No. So it's a good job they won't do it

If the season is resumed and all leagues are completed and Liverpool as expected win it. That's great with me. You have been the best this year so far.

But you have to cross the line. You must realise this.

It's going to be interesting to see how the teams react IF the league season does resume around early April for example or even later.

Will the teams carry on with their forms as they left off, or could we see some surprise results (upsets?)

Fixture list will be V interesting.

3 or 4 games a week

I guess you'd have to expect the teams who are midtable and have nothing to really play for, just go through the motions. For the rest of teams - it could be a nervy final third of the season. Except Liverpool.

It only makes sense if it will be fairly soon and behind closed doors

the latest plan mooted by the telegraph is interesting

end the season

make Liverpool champions

promote Leeds and west from and have a 22 team league

scrap the EFL cup to accommodate it and have 5 teams get relegated at the end of next season

I've read about that option too.

If it did come to the possibility that the league ends now.
Then making Liverpool winners (which i will accept), bottom 3 teams remain in the PL and then add the top 2 Championship teams in to make it a 22 team league just for next season seems like the most likeliest scenario.

However, no matter what option the FA decides on, someone will not be happy.

- Bottom 3 teams surviving - getting another shot at the PL to survive. Previous relegation battlers never got a 'second chance'.

- Championship playoff teams - unhappy at missing out on a rare chance to get promoted.

Are you a United fan, or not?

It goes without saying that if the dippers are granted the title, then the English Premier League will be forever tainted.

Because they"re Liverpool.
