But it’s not 7 games in, Its nearly 20plus and we are going backwards. Give ole time is utter rubbish. Any other manager and he be gone. Lose to a crap Newcastle side and that should be the end for him. Just look at brendan rodgers at leicester city totally transform them into a different team. We can’t score more then 1 against Rochdale.

Ole has been making some pretty dodgy personnel decisions and his refusal to play anything other than a 4231 even when Pogba plays is pretty weird.

Said on the football live thread that Jose would have got hammered for setting up like that at Old Trafford. Even if the results pick up as the season goes on I don't think there's much to suggest that the football is gonna turn into some liverpool-esque stuff. If you're fine with that than fair enough, but I had gotten the impression that the majority of your fanbase was fed up with such negative football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think it has been overly negative and I think the formation is a little misleading.

Ole has a system that he trusts - time will tell if that needs to be tweaked or if it fails.

It is 7 games in.

The squad has changed massively and it will take time for things to calm down.

Even if Ole isn’t the right guy, and I don’t believe we can know that yet, there’s absolutely no point whatsoever in sacking him at this juncture.

So knowing Woodward, that’s probably exactly what the incompetent moroooon will do next.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

haha too true.

I think people would be far less critical of the results if Ole wasn't having you play such turgid football
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Largely, one comes with the other though.

I think central midfield is letting us down massively in that respect.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not just CM, Pereira, Mata, Rashford and Lingard have been awful, in fact they just aren't good enough. James is very raw and Martial hasn't been fit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree but think you'll see our forward players thrive with the right support behind them.

Play isn't being transitioned quickly enough nor with enough control at present.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The structure of the side isn’t right for any quick transition other than those involving the kind of raking, speculative balls we saw Young and Pogba hit over the top yesterday.

But I think it would be with the right central midfield.

Only McTominay looks mobile enough and it's yet to be seen whether he's got what it takes on the ball.

As for the OP, what I actually expected at the start of the season was for all our flaws we would at least be fun to watch. I didn’t expect top 3 - I did expect a fight for top 4 and the football to be better than previous managers. What we are seeing is dour stuff and no sign that there is any coherent plan that suggests patience will be rewarded

People have said before, “I can’t wait for this season to end,” whilst we’ve been under the management of LVG, Mourinho and now Ole.

Why do they think the next season is going to be any different with Woodward at the helm?

People need to get the fack off the managers’ backs and see that they’re trying to operate with their hands tied.

Personally, I am enjoying watching the youngsters develop.

I accepted a long time ago that this would be a crap season.

It is possible to enjoy watching United even if we're not top four material.

Yeah, but you genuinely think the likes of Pep and Klopp would struggle just as badly under Ed. Which isn’t true. Even a misfiring Jose took us to 2nd and as many points that won a title 2 seasons before.

With a better manager than Jose we could very well succeed in spite of Ed - right now we’re handicapping ourselves with a manager clearly out of his depth and the fans are enabling Ed without even realising it by supporting such a poor appointment

Frank and Chelsea are doing well, but it's not like he's had to scrape the barrel from the youth teams. Chelsea have been buying up the best talents in the world and loaning them out since Roman took-over. They aren't poor players with no experience that he's having to piece together.

Not taking anything away from him though as you still have to make it work and he seems to be starting to do that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Correct me if im wrong but Chelsea didnt buy Mount, CHO. RLC, Abraham, Tomori nor James

McTominay isn't our issue right now, those players who did prove themselves at the likes of Chelsea, Juve, in the CL etc are the big issues.

Correct...these are green home grown youth players that have been at best on loan, waiting for the chance...which they are now getting

Hanson once said you'll never win anything with kids...he was wrong...not saying these will win yet...but the promise is there

Poor managers with their hands tied behind their backs. Fack up.

They have all spent huge sums of money just mostly on the wrong players with different styles etc. The lack of cohesion at the club got you here.

yes, that is where players who haven't made it yet should be playing: the first team of the biggest club in the world.

It's no surprise we are this bad when half of our squad is constantly filled with players who might make it in five years.

he should be out on loan in the prem and if he turns out to be one of the best 5 midfielders in the league he can start for our first team. that is how big clubs do it.

instead he starts for our first team because he looked half decent in the u23 side.

and people are surprised that we are bad?
