The first question is was it a foul? It obviously was as the keeper clattered into him and didn't take the ball. The second question is whether Jota had lost control of the ball. This is difficult to answer, even with VAR. Therefore the original decision should have stood. No clear and obvious error.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course Jota had lost control of the ball. He miskicked it out of play ffs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It wasn't out of play when he attempted to change direction to go after it. He probably wouldn't have got there, true but you can't be sure. Either way the original decision should have stood, due to not being sure, which is the whole point of clear and obvious. You see them using this phase incorrectly all the time, then they finally have a chance to use it perfectly and they go and change the original decision.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He doesn't go after the ball. He puts his leg to the right and into the keeper. I think you need to watch it again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I literally just showed the video which shows this is not the case. If you're going to WUM, at least try to find something to WUM about, not just denying what is actually shown on video
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. You showed a video that shows Jota put his right left to his right and into the keeper. The BBC link I have posted shows it from behind and even clearer. It also shows that Jota look at the keeper and knew exactly where he was. You must be wumming.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he was looking to dive right from the very start, he could have made it a lot easier for himself. He could have initiated that contact in a far more realistic way with Ward and with the keeper. He completely misses the ball when trying to lift it over the keeper then makes an effort to retrieve it causing him to collide with the keeper. Absolutely no penalty and absolutely not a dive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The ball went left, he went right, but he was trying to retrieve the ball? Pull the other one. He was after the penalty all along. He thought Ward was going to make more contact and started dragging his right foot, but the contact didn't come. By that time his feet were all wrong and he couldn't get the chip right, fecked up, then took a look at the keeper and stepped into him to win the penalty. Its all there in the BBC link I posted.

It would have been a foul in any other area of the pitch. So although it was a soft pen, it was still a pen. VAR reviewed it as did the ref. They agreed it was a pen. So it was a pen. Anyone now saying otherwise is wumming for the sake of wumming!!!
Guys deliberately leave their feet in to get wiped out by others in the box all the time. Why would the Jota decision be anything else based on that?

A strange analysis of the penalty.
Jota ran into the area, attempted to dink the keeper, got his shot wrong his body moved right as his right foot came down, naturally. He then adjusted his body to go left towards the ball and at the same time the keeper fouled him. It was an obvious foul. The only question was whether he was getting to the ball if the keeper didn't foul him. It's impossible to tell in my opinion which means the original decision should stand as there is no clear and obvious error.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah, Jota was looking for the penalty. He was going to go down when Ward came across - you can actually see him start to drag his right foot, then he realises that there wasn't any/enough contact to go down. He then decides that he will instead try to get a penalty off the keeper and step towards him, which is why he fluffs the chip. No penalty for me.
