In PL era, anyway.

Kenny Sansom also lost the armband during a season. So 4 of our last 5 managers have stripped a captain of the role mid-season

RVP was a better captain than Cesc

My only reservation with Gabriel is the length of service and his connection with the fans.

I think Saka should be captain. He is intelligent and quite level headed.

We seem to be signalling this era of the youth of Arsenal to stand up so why not do a Tony Adams and go young?

No chance. I would bet many would even forget RvP was even captain.
Cesc was a proper leader on and off the pitch for most his captaincy, RvP was a troublemaker who split the dressing room.

Gabriel is popular with fans and he’s had a full season here already.

Ben White, I think, will be the one who gets it tbh. Reckon Arteta will see him being English as an advantage, especially with all the young English kids in the team.

Again my issue with Ben White is the lack of time he has been at the club.
