I realise this is a bit of a conspiracy theory, but does anyone else think the club are wanting to get Auba out (his wages being far too expensive for the value he brings) so they’ve used this situation as an opportunity to shame him in public and try to help force him out of the club? I can’t help but get the feeling this would have been brushed under the carpet if he was still banging in goals every week for us…

Yes but do you believe that? If it wasn’t true Arteta clearly has no plausible way of saying “no” to that question

Who knows? In my view Arteta handled the whole issue well. We want Arsenal to inform what is going on behind the scene. He did it without giving any details to protect the player as well.

It’s not a conspiracy theory at all. It seems very likely. Thought as much when he was dropped for the the NLD. Titler and Auba clearly do not have a good relationship. Titler dodged the question on his relationship after the Everton game he was benched for.

Don't see Arteta breaking any of the rules he put in place

The way I see it is losing the captaincy is a somewhat acceptable outcome given the circumstances and is surely punishment enough given the fairly lightweight misdemeanours, but to essentially ban him from playing really publicly humiliates him and makes me think there’s an ulterior motive here. If this was a player Arteta or the mgmt team wanted to keep I think this would have been handled far more gently.
