But Hiddink hasn't been given the same instructions clearly, I don't remember him playing any of the youth players either.

Does a three year contract afford a manager the time to bring in young raw talent at clubs where expectations are high.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Certainly. And with the state Chelsea were in and the age of some of the players it wasnt just a case of could we afford to but it being essential! From day 1 Jose could see the back bone was old. We needed to replace Cech, Lampard, Terry and the shadow of Drogba. So although not needed straight away by the start of this season there should have been far more intergration, but typical jose - there are his 1st 15 then the rest. Jose teams are just that a team they arent a squad so those other 10 rarely play for Jose ir leave.

Sorry Ruiney but this argument winds me up, not you mate
Having an first team and then relying on youngsters is the way to blood youngsters and hope they take a chance
And for anyone saying yeah but carrick played in defence well you need experience too.
Class of 92 had leaders and experience next to them too

Erm big difference between "you are the future of chelsea we want a dynasty" to "feck Guus we need to stay up and win the FA cup!"
And in the 3 months Guus has been here our youth has played more than the 3 years of Jose. Try watching our games with Traore, Kenedy and RLC.

Would you consider a club with Jose at the helm if you are a promising young talent ? And on the flip side would it inspire you to sign for utd after watching young players get their opportunity this season ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably not, going by his record or lack there of. But Jose's employment will depend on what the club are looking for in a manger. Do they want someone who is going to develop youth or win trophies, ideally both but that is very hard to find. If developing youth is the priority then Pochettino is the standout candidate.
As a Jose "advocate" (to use the term loosely) I would be lying if the last few games hadn't made me think twice about him though. The feeling of seeing a young lad from Manchester have that start to his United was hard to describe.
I suppose it comes down to title or job description.
To say manager includes everyone but there is the manager who is coach and developer and there is manager who plays players who he thinks will win the game and development isn't his problem.
Very basic I know but that is the general gist
My argument for JM has been he comes in has a team and runs them into the ground for a couple of seasons but with success, BUT short term
Mumbai madge - mate at the risk of sounding facetious etc people were and are desperate to be old utd ie challenging and winning and prepared to sell their soul.
Personally I would take a few seasons in the middle of the table if long term we get another 20 years of success

Must admit I haven't watched Chelsea much of late but with Top 4 almost out of reach (maybe not now actually as you are only 10 points behind), then wouldn't you expect a few of the kids to almost become regulars at the moment except in the CL?

But it is my biggest fear about Jose, that we'd never see a fairytale story like Rashford.

you wont see ANY youth,
He will talk it up but utlimatley be given £250m to guarantee sucess and those bright English players will suffer

I see this debate has begun already
I used to believe that Jose's reputation on not playing youth was a bit unfair however unless the player is blatantly, smack you in the face obvious that he is ready to start, or has already had experience of first team football then he will rarely play them.
He made quite a few soundbites during his tenure here on how he was gonna give x a chance etc yet never stuck by his words.
His driven nature to win every match doesn't allow him to take risks on inexperienced players.
....................
Indeed Sideshow. It is very hard top argue against this. Unless he is clearly not good enough, you really have to wonder why Loftus Cheek or what ever the lads name is was not given more of a chance.
Has anyone mentioned Varane? He's a star now and he first got into the team under Jose.
I do agree that Mourinho should take more risks with youth, but like other people have said, he's just too cautious by nature.

Varane and Zouma have done pretty well. Believe Balotelli also got a lot of game time under Mourinho at Inter and did Santon not break through under Mourinho?
List that was posted on this article....
KdB
Lukaku
Bertrand
Bamford (Loan)
Cuadrado
Moses
Salah
Van Ginkel (Loan)
Kakuta
Josh
Romeu
T Hazard
Van Aabolt
have to obviously mention that neither De Bruyne or Lukaku wanted to stay and fight for a first team place, they wanted to be first choice, Lukaku even admitted that Jose didn't want to sell him, but he asked to go.
Of the rest of the list, Bertrand is the only one good enough to be a Chelsea player.
People go on and on about this but managers at the clubs Mourinho has managed have the same record with youngsters, who did Ancelotti bring through at Real? Who did he bring through at Chelsea?
Hiddink has changed nothing from Mourinho other than giving Traore 10 minutes or so at the end, despite our fixture congestion, the same players start every game, the same subs come on virtually every game. Everyone's idol RLC has barely kicked a ball. Its not because of the manager its because of the club/in RLC case the player not commanding a chance.
If Man Utd didn't have a ridiculous injury list would Borthwick-Jackson or Rashford have any first team apps, no they wouldnt. Fellaini even played CF this season, if he wasn't injured as well he would have been CF against Arsenal undoubtedly.
So,very few names offered when listing youth players Jose has wasted.
That's that myth busted then.

There is one that he doesn't give youth much of a chance.
Maybe you are confused.
