I've got a thermometer I know that it's colder this week then it was last week.
-----------------------------------------------
There will be a scientist in the Guardian telling you that you are mistaken
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't care weather or not they try to explain the reasons behind the short term fluctuations in temperature I have experienced in the past couple of weeks and try to convince me that the climate is warming despite this. I will not be listening to them. I've seen my thermometer

And I honestly wouldn't waste your time thinking about it too much. Do your bit but the reality is this world is already doomed. The human race are a bunch of entitled, dumb cants.

"The wisdom of the crowd" is a theory relating to the collective opinion of a group of individuals rather than that of a single expert. Which proves why experts should not be listened to and the majority should be heard. This theory was presented by Aristotle who is an expert in this field so knows what he's talking about. If I were you, I'd listen to him.

That doesn't prove what you think it proves.

You can't threaten people or tax them into being more environmentally friendly. Frankly the generale morale of people in this country at least after 2 miserable years of covid, and now a war on our doorstep that threatens to spill over means that just shouting DOOM DOOM DOOM isn't going to be heard.

Governments should be creating incentived ways to become more green and environmentally friendly. Make people who drive electric cars or use green energy and reduce waste better off than those who don't.

Unfortunately our current crop of wonderful politicians believes more in punitive taxes rather than incentivisation.

The free market will be a huge player in climate change, and that's one of the reasons electric cars are now everywhere and readily available. It's good to be seen to be green now, and lots and lots of companies are doing just that.

People (including companies which are just groups of people) will never consistently do something out of the good of their own heart or because we've had doom shoved down our throats, but make it financially incentive for people to become more environmentally friendly and you'll actually get somewhere.

I eat mostly vegetarian during the week now to reduce my carbon footprint. Only have red meat at the weekends. Have an electric car for my hour commute on days I'm in the office.

I've also been chucking wild flower seeds in the garden of a neighbour I don't like when they go out and then watching them get annoyed that stuff keeps growing back.

Well, at least it is refreshing to see no real CC deniers on this thread (yet!).

Those guys are the biggest idiots going.. "The climate is always changing, we've had ice ages before.. blah blah blah"... oh yea, Einstein, how do you know that? Oh yea, because scientists worked it out for you.

Yeah, I like this approach a lot, for people and businesses.

Rather than threatening people with more taxes across the board or fines *if* they are caught polluting, why not restructure the tax system and find ways to reward people and businesses making the right decisions.

Broken record time, but small businesses are a great place to start. Statistically, they operate vastly more sustainably than multinationals, and, in my experience, are less likely to regulation-bend, to greenwash, or to take the approach of just facking the regulations completely and paying their way out of trouble when they’re caught.

Another option is personal carbon trading. The UK has been looking at the scheme for more than a decade and getting it in place wouldn’t require a huge amount of time.

Allow those who consume little to sell their credits to those who consume more, and tax the consumers on the transaction. Rewards considered choices and generates revenue that can be ploughed into renewables, for example.

One company produces 360,000 cans of soft drinks

And that company has at least 4 factories in England alone.

We all know these soft drinks aren’t good for you so put massive strains on the NHS, not to mention the waste and emissions to keep a factory pumping out goods 24/7.

4 x 360,000 = 1,440,000

One point four, four million cans by one company.

And that is every hour. I’ll do the math some more for you.

34,560,000!

THIRTY FOUR AND A HALF MILLION CANS OF SHIIIIIT PER DAY!

And we wonder why we are fcked? That’s just little old England.

The answer, stop eating all this sugary crap and that will help us no end.

And start telling your bosses to invest in 3D printing and make in-house tooling, prototypes, packaging, jigs, fixtures, even end-use parts.

Saving on shipping alone would be astronomical. Supply chain reliability increased and lead times slashed.

fewer and fewer people read JA606 each week. Its a case of ever decreasing circles since United became crap.

Its a footy forum. If you want to debate issues of the day sensibly and with insight then you are really in the wrong room
