Who were you talking to there Jay?
"Unfortunately, what you get with religion far outweighs any positives."
Another bulls'hit statement really.
Anyway, you still haven't answered the question. You said the law is protecting the innocent. Who from?
Xenophobic? You chose the right word there mate.
-----------------------------
yes, i did.
why, how would you describe your brand of hatred towards a certain group of people that don't share your belief system?
You can be a bad person but still follow the rules, regulations and laws.
Being a good or bad person is largely a choice.

That depends really. Some people don't have a choice.

I have no idea anymore.
I was agreeing with your above comment, then quoted someone else and was shocked at their belief

Most religious people do not look for proof, that's why they often call it "faith".
Just let them get on with their lives- for the majority of people religion is a private thing yet this silent majority are subject to utter nonsense about how they all cause wars, how they are extremist bigoted nutjobs based on either a few racist Christians from America in the case of Christianity; or a few extremists who killed in the name of Islam. It doesn't represent the majority of Christians or Muslims, or any religious.
Just let them get on with their lives.

Our laws and morals are based upon our religious past. Obviously they have evolved for the modern day, but the foundations were based on religion.
-----------------
Proof? So can you show me evidence that it was chaos before the 10 commandments, then all of a sudden it was ok after them?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm talking about in Britain. You can't deny the 1000's of years of religion have had no effect on our current laws and morals.
Good? I thought you were!

That's why I said largely a choice not always, but most often, you can choose whether you want to be a twát or not. Obviously there are other influencing factors.

"One cannot be completely religious without being an extremist."
--------------------------------
well, that didnt come out rite.
All religions looks down upon other religions. They all believe their faith is the one true faith and all others go to hell. This is total opposite to equality.
Most sensible religious people ignore these parts in their religion and take only the good but anyone can use the religion literary and use it for extremist purposes.
"yes, i did."
Without sounding like a smartass. Xenophobia's dislike for people from other nations.
I don't hate atheists as I have a lot of friends that are that. I just disagree with them completely.
How anyone can take the bible as the word of God is beyond me, a book written by men, then edited by the men in power to suit their agenda, then re re edited by the next person / people in power and this trend continues for centuries.
Taking the moral of a biblical story is a good thing if it's applied to do good, taking a book written by men as the literal word of God is a bad thing.
Look at the Westboro Baptist Church, horrible people who pickett dead soldiers funerals beacuse the US military allows Gay people in the army, they protest due to two lines in Liviticus "a man should not lie with another man as he lies with a woman" or something along those lines, but they can't practice one of Gpds main lessons "love thy neighbour". Horrible people.
guys I missed most of this discussion, but it one I would like to weigh in with my opinion
I feel with anything you are truly passionate about it is at times hard for people to take any opposing point of view in the matter. Religion is the foundation of what most peoples ideology of right and wrong stems from and to accept another religion or to compromise in anyway would be denial of self for those that truly practice religion.
Why did everything in the Bible happen so long ago?
